(Y/N)'s pov

(Y/N): "For a second I thought you'd forgotten me." Everyone recoiled back in shock at my sudden appearance, without further resistance from the others I walked up to Yang. "What happened? Miss the infirmary already?" I chuckled at my own joke but Yang, and all of the others, stayed silent.

I thought the tension was from what I had done, which I'm sure some of it was, but the true source of the pause was revealed as Yang pulled me into a bear hug. I froze only for a moment before wrapping my arms around her.

Yang: "Your an asshole you know that?" I nodded and rubbed her back as she shook in my arms.

Weiss: "With a lot to answer for." I looked away from Yang's golden hair to see the rest of team RWBY as well as JNPR staring at me.

I stood up and backed away from Yang, giving the others enough space to come over and continue treating her leg. The ones that weren't giving aid only continued to wait, with crossed arms, for my response.

(Y/N): "Listen... alright I fucked up, but there's a lot more going on than you know and for your own safety it should really stay that way." Some of them were satisfied, others looked like they wanted more, all of them looked concerned. "I'll let you all know when you're somewhere safe but NOT while you're still at Beacon."

Cinder: "Nice speech. Can we keep going now?" All eyes turned to Cinder as she made her presence known.

Blake: "And who's she?" JNPR seemed concerned about another potential threat while RWBY stared daggers at me.

Cinder: "I'm his babysitter."

Yang: "He's a big boy. He doesn't need someone following him."

Cinder: "Last time we left him alone he murdered a world leader."

Yang went to respond but was stumped by the clear reasoning behind her being here, even if it wasn't technically true.

Pyrrha: "Wait, were not just gonna skip past the fact you killed Ironwood." I sighed, understanding why they wanted to know but really trying not to drag them into this.

(Y/N): "I'm not trying to skip past it but I can't tell you everything right now." Pyrrha went to speak up again but was interrupted by Jaune.

Jaune: "Let's just leave it for now. We need to get Yang and Ruby back to the infirmary before their injuries get any worse."

I knew Ruby was injured as well but until that moment I didn't realize the full extent of them. Her entire back and stomach were bruised, and while she was able to stand on her own it didn't look like the most comfortable thing. Weiss and Nora walked over, lifting her slightly and helping her keep balance.

Yang's leg had been patched up enough to stop the bleeding but walking on her own was out of the question. She gestured for me to get closer and as I did she turned me around before lifting herself onto my back.

(Y/N): "Oof. What are you doing?" The sudden jump in weight caught me off guard, causing me to almost fall forward.

Yang: "I can't walk so you get the honor of carrying me back." I could hear the smirk in her voice.

(Y/N): "I don't get a say in this do I?" She pulled herself into me more, tucking her head into the nape of my neck before shaking her head. "Alright let's go." With another grunt I pushed myself up, getting my balance before walking forward.

With nods of approval from the rest of the group we began the hike back to Beacon. For the most part it seemed that I had scared off all the grimm in the area but just in case everyone kept their weapons in hand.
