I know, I know, y'all want a chapter, don't worry chapter 5 is almost done and should be up in a week. But I got some things I wanna address.
First off this story just hit 10 fuckin' thousand reads!!!
I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read my story, even if you don't vote or comment seeing the number of reads go up really inspires me to make chapters bigger and better.
And for those of you who may be worried by the long pauses between updates, don't worry. I will never stop writing this story until I have already gotten through the whole plot I have planned out, and we got a LONG way to go.
Secondly I have some new grimm types native to the more hostile parts of Atlas. They may or may not show up in the next few chapters so I'm gonna explain them here to save some exposition later.
If it helps with immersion this will be written from the perspective of (Y/N) writing down descriptions of the grimm in his journal.
MIMICS: Danger level - Light
Mimics are small humanoid grimm with high intelligence. These grimm are no larger than a foot with skinny flexible bodies, sharp claws at the end of each finger, and small but razor sharp teeth.
As you may have guessed from the name, Mimics have a large vocal range allowing them to mimic the sounds of other animals to lure in small prey, such as pets. They usually move in small groups and are considered nothing more than pests. However if a large colony is formed their danger level can increase dramatically.
"SIREN'S SONG": Danger level - High
A "Siren's Song" isn't a grimm but a result of a large colony of Mimics taking over a village.
Once a large colony is established Mimics will set their sights on small remote villages. Over the course of months they will sneak into the homes of everyone in the village, usually under floorboards or in dark corners of attics.
Once the entire colony has managed to get into position in the village the Mimics will wait for nightfall. Once everyone in the village is asleep the Mimics will sneak out of their hiding positions and quickly kill everyone.
After all non-mimics have been disposed of the colony will set up in the houses leaving the lights on and occasionally mimicking basic human sounds such as laughing. Until the colony runs out of food they will continue to act like a functioning village to lure in lost and tired travelers.
It is recommended to teach anyone who may find themselves in Atlas how to spot the differences between a normal village and a "Siren's Song" for their own safety.
ICE FIENDS: Danger level - Medium to High
Ice fiends are Atlas' version of Beowolfs with them sharing extremely similar body structure, the only difference being the lack of bone armor and a smaller height. Instead of Bone armor the Ice fiend has jagged and hardened ice on its back.
They travel in packs ranging anywhere from 5-30, with larger packs having multiple alphas to lead. Omegas are stronger members of the pack that will stay behind in fights to protect the Alphas. Betas make up the majority of the pack and will do most of the fighting.
When fighting the pack will first begin by surrounding their target. Once the target is surrounded the Betas will throw themselves at high speeds using their ice armor to cut through their prey. Omega fiends have the armor on their back with the addition of claws made of pointed ice that they will use as a follow up attack after launching themselves.
