Amon jerked a hand back to Mako to keep him subdued as he stared menacingly down at Korra. "Finally, you are powerless." Korra groaned, trying to lift her arm to hit Amon, but failing as her arm fell before her. The Lieutenant burst into the room after having searched high and low for Amon, his face covered in sorrow as he looked on at Amon boldly bloodbending Mako to his knees.

"Amon!" the Lieutenant shouted. "Everything the Avatar said is true, isn't it? I just saw you bloodbend him." The Lieutenant gave an empty laugh as he removed his mask and tossed it to the ground, stomping viscously on it. "You traitor! I dedicated myself to you!" The Lieutenant whipped out his kali sticks and charged towards Amon, the bender only raising his free hand in a stop motion in response. The Lieutenant was then lifted into the air, his kali sticks dropping soundlessly to the floor.

"You've served me well, Zaheer." Amon threw him aside out of a window on the side of the room, walking towards Mako once Zaheer was completely out of sight. Amon tightened his grip on Mako's hands but gasped as Mako managed to pull his pointer and middle finger together in order to generate a blast of lightning and hit him. Amon's grip on Mako broke and Mako lunged into flinging fire blasts at Amon, tapping Amon further in the wood that he hit him into by setting it on fire. Mako kneeled next to Korra's exhausted form and placed his arms beneath her legs and neck before breaking quickly into a run.

"Mako...my bending."

"Everything will be alright!" Mako said as he turned sharp corners to try and get away from Amon. "We just need to get out of here. I thin-" Mako choked on his words as Amon appeared behind them and reached out for Mako, taking a threatening grip on his movements. Asa Amon stepped towards Korra, he began tossing Mako around the hallway like a ragdoll, slamming him against the walls and ceiling vigorously.

"I'm impressed. No one has ever gotten the better of me like that. It is almost a shame to take the bending of someone so talented. Almost." Amon thrust Mako down onto the floor with his forehead held high.

Korra pushed herself to her knees and reached out towards them. "No," she gasped. Her outstretched fingers began to tingle as the sting of 'nos' that lined her thoughts began to quiet behind various whispers coming from deep inside of her. The voices laid over themselves, all leading up to the once voice that stood out most prominently from the rest.

"Airbending comes from the past of least resistance and the flexibility of change. Move Korra and think not of the fear of failing, the guilt of losing, or the shame of being beaten. Focus your energy, not in the blocked areas, but into your heart to overpower the grief you feel." Korra bit her lips as she anxiously watched Amon approach Mako. She decided to just go for it, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She let herself flow into the energy surrounding her heart and she clenched her tingling fingers into a fist, pulling her arm back.

The voices folded over themselves as Korra winded her arm, repeating, "Open, open, open..." Korra forced her fist forward, the voices widening her eyes to a bright white as they said, "...the air chakra." A powerful gust of wind sliced through the air and slammed into Amon, pushing him and Mako far apart.

"Impossible!" Amon seethed as he stretched himself out of the corner Korra flung him in.

Korra's eyes returned to normal, and she gaped down at her hands, opening and closing her fists as she thought, Thank you, Aang. Clutching her fists for the last time, Korra threw a flurry of air blasts toward Amon, making him slide to a stop near the hallway's back window as he could not block her attacks. He stretched out his hand, halting Korra's steps towards him with a block on her blood. Amon straightened his posture as Korra tried her best to resist his grip, her face wincing and contorting as he used both of his hands to keep her secure.
