Earth
Fire
Air
Water
Only the Avatar can master all four elements and bring balance to the world
THIS JUST IN:
Kuvira has defeated the Avatar and now controls the entire Earth Empire. Luckily, the airbender kids and Opal rescued Korra and escaped Zaofu. For the first time in three years, Korra will finally be back in Republic City! Meanwhile, Varrick and Bolin escaped from Baatar Jr. and are on the run. But will they make it back to the city in time to warn everyone about Kuvira's new spirit energy super weapon?
Lemaya squinted her left eye tightly as she carefully stacked the last empty bottle onto the growing tower of drinks that most definitely should not be at the temple. She managed to get it to balance and Mako every so quietly clapped for her as she raised her arms triumphantly into the air. "And you said I couldn't do it."
"I stand corrected," he chuckled. Pabu chittered as he ran across Mako's shoulder then hopped to the ground to go run over Naga next. The speed of his dash kicked up just enough of a gust to teeter the base of the tower and then it came crashing down to the sandy beach. Curling himself into Naga's fluffy fur out of embarrassment, Pabu shielded his ears from Mako and Lemaya's groans. "Now we actually have to talk business."
Leaning back on her arms, Lemaya sighed. "Or we could keep pretending like there isn't a million problems we need to deal with and talk about something else." Mako gave her a pointed look, saying that they had already taken enough of a break, but Lemaya simply smiled in return. "Hmm, how about the fact that you have been so much more relaxed lately. I think Wu's been good for you."
"If only I could be good for him," Mako snorted. He paused as he realized how that sounded, but made no moves to correct himself. Lemaya raised her brows but said nothing about it.
Instead, she asked, "How is he after the coronation?"
"Adjusting. He's not sure what to do with himself now. As much as he wasn't looking forward to it, at least being king was something to look forward to, you know?"
"I get that."
Mako tilted his head. "Please, you have your chief-to-be stuff."
"Yeah, but Tonraq is worried about Korra so that's been on pause. And having thrown myself into it these last few months, it's been hard going without it." Lemaya wrinkled her nose. "It's like I'm having withdrawals."
He couldn't help but laugh, even though his next words weren't necessarily a laughing matter. "Are you not worried about her, too?"
"It would certainly be easier if I could say that, but I'm still here aren't I?" Mako offered her a sympathetic look which she waved off. "We're all just waiting for good news."
Deciding to stop pressing, Mako leaned back, too, and said, "Tell me about it. Asami needs to hurry up with those plans. This waiting has been almost as bad as when I had to live with a leaky roof at my parents' house, just hoping it wouldn't flood."
"Oh right, your orphanage," Lemaya said amusedly. "How's that been?"
Sheepishly scratching his neck, Mako joked, "Lately it's been orphaned, too. I figured it would give it character."
"Right, of course," Lemaya continued. "Gotta start them young."
"I am a testament to that mentality," he grinned. It was quiet and then they burst into a shared laugh, loud enough that Pabu felt that he could safely crawl out of his hiding spot. It wasn't so safe, though, as Naga immediately perked up, her ears twitching toward the sky and her snout sniffing at the light breeze in the air.
