THIS JUST IN:

The Red Lotus is the world's latest threat. After confronting Zaheer, Korra learned that his goal is to destroy the institutions of the world and create a better society for all the nations. Mako and Bolin were captured by them, but Asami, Zhu Li, and the still unconscious Zai went after them to get their friends back from their clutches. Both parties are now headed to Ba Sing Se, but where are Korra and Lemaya now?

The first thing Korra heard when she awoke was the furious rattle of chains. Her eyes widened to see copious restraints holding her within a metal structure and a metal sheet hovering over her lips. She followed the echoing clanks to see Lemaya struggling against the handcuffs locking her to the floor of the compartment they were in.

"Where are we?"

Lemaya's head shot up, and a relieved smile passed her lips. Korra had been out for a long time, and part of her worried that she might be stuck wherever she was with no way back. "Zaheer's friends attacked us while you were gone. I managed to get you out of there, but the Earth Queen's forces nabbed you, me, and Naga on our way out." She blew a loose strand of hair out of her face. "Whoever taught those guys how to sneak deserves a raise because without that advantage I would have beaten them to a pulp."

She yanked on her chains once more as if the extra umph to her movements would somehow free her chains from the loop they passed through on the floor. Korra couldn't blame her though. If she could even move any of her limbs, she would be doing the same.

"I think the universe just wanted to get you back after your epic fight the other night." Korra smiled at the cute way Lemaya's face scrunched up in annoyance. In a moment, they may be returned to their bleak reality, but for now all Korra wanted was to remember that Lemaya was there with her. Everything Zaheer had said chilled her to the bone, and she did not know how it would all come to a head with him. She knew he was already off his rocker after they had arrested him for working with Amon, but she did not know just how deeply he meant his mad ravings back in his confession.

Korra wanted to chastise herself for not anticipating this threat, for not working harder to reach her Avatar Spirits for help. They had said she had more to learn from them once they were all whole, but it did not seem like that would ever come to pass. She had already lost the past Avatars, she could not lose them too. Especially not now.

She could not lose anyone else.

"It was hardly epic. I am sure you remember the mess I was afterward."

"A beautiful mess," Korra corrected, her thoughts refocusing on Lemaya's voice. Lemaya chuckled, but did not fight the grain that pulled at her cheeks.

"Why are we talking about this?" Her words were light, but Korra could feel the weight of them lower the mood in the room. It was a fair question, Lemaya had told her of the memories that fighting the waterbender had brought up for her, and if she was tactful, she would not mention it unless Lemaya brought it up first.

But Korra did not want to be held back by her fear of what was to come, not when for the quiet moment they were alone together with nothing else to do but be stuck wherever they were headed she could fight that urge in her to back away from everything.
