"What happened to you?" Asami asked as Mako stepped onto the ship with damp clothes.

"Bolin got a hot tub," Mako sighed, wiping dripping water off of his neck as he passed Lemaya.

"Really? Sounds fun," Lemaya said. She twisted her hands behind Mako and pulled the water out of his clothes, tossing it over the side of the ship. Mako looked down at his newly dry clothes and gave her a smile.

"Very. Now we can get going."

"Right on. Kuvira, we're ready!" Lemaya shouted into the upper steering cabin. Kuvira only threw back a thumbs up and then the ship jerked forward, sailing out into the bay. As the ship neared where the attacks took place, Lemaya, Asami, and Mako all piled into the steering cabin with Kuvira to get a better look at the water.

"Keep your eyes peeled and stay quiet. We alerted the departure captain and we're nearing the place. Anything could happen any minute now," Mako said as he pressed his eyes close to the glass on the cabin wall. As he watched a couple of crewmembers slink around the shadows below them, he noticed Kuvira's reflection in the window staring at him. "What?"

Kuvira looked away. "Oh, it's nothing."

"Obviously not if you're staring," Mako replied, keeping his eyes on the outside. Asami and Lemaya quietly turned a little from their gazes out the cabin's left side windows, eavesdropping on the little encounter as Kuvira smacked her lips.

"Well, I was just going to ask what it's like dating the Avatar. Come on, I wanna know. I've never met her before, only heard stories," Kuvira goaded. She held the steering wheel sturdily as Mako groaned and banged his head onto the glass.

"Kuvira, can you just focus on driving the ship?" Mako rolled his eyes.

Kuvira grinned. "I'm a multitasker. Humor me." Mako peeled his eyes away from the glass and turned to Kuvira, holding her taunting gaze as she smiled at him. "So?"

"Korra is great, amazing really, but there's nothing to know about us dating because we broke up," Mako said while looking at Kuvira with eyes much softer than the irritated ones from before. Her smile faltered and fell, her eyes holding awkwardness in them carefully as Lemaya and Asami whipped around from the windows they were pretending to be occupied with.

"You broke up? When?" blurted Asami as she rubbed her neck from turning it too hard.

"Did you guys actually?" Lemaya asked while rubbing her arms softly. Quietly, she said, "That's probably what Korra wanted to talk about but instead I argued with her. Oh jeez." She took a couple of deep breaths into her hands as Asami wrapped her in a side hug.

Mako sheepishly grinned and looked back out onto the deck. "Yeah. We did. Yesterday."

"Sheesh, I didn't mean to spoil the mood like that. Sorry to hear that, shark brows," Kuvira said listlessly as she returned her focus back to steering.

Lemaya stifled a laugh as Mako peered at Kuvira's reflection in the glass. "What did you just call me?" he asked roughly in an intimidating snarl. However, Kuvira wasn't fazed in the slightest.

"Shark brows. It's fitting, you know, 'cause of you- those things. They're cute though, don't get me wrong, just amusing." Kuvira chuckled and flashed Mako a wink through her reflection, Mako's eyes rolling into the back of his head as he pushed off of the window.

"I'm going to make a round, I'll be back," Mako said as he left the cabin, glaring at Kuvira as he passed. As the cabin doors closed, Lemaya let out her laughter, and Asami joined in as she moved to the other side of the windows to take Mako's lookout place.

"That was quite creative, Kuvira," Asami giggled, as she caught Kuvira's eye in the window reflection. "Maybe hearing me talk all about my creative process for mechanic designs has rubbed off on you." Kuvira grinned. Asami didn't know the half of it.
