Earth
Fire
Air
Water
Only the Avatar can master all four elements and bring balance to the world
THIS JUST IN:
The Air Nation has its first recruit. Team Avatar's search for new airbenders in the Earth Kingdom led them to Kai, an orphan with a shady past. Meanwhile, Lord Zuko is hot on the trail of Zaheer and two convicts he helped escape, all of whom pose a great threat to the Avatar. Unaware of the danger to her from the convicts, though not from the unknown group of assailants keeping a close eye, Korra continues her mission to find more airbenders. Next stop, the walled city of Ba Sing Se. Who knows what trouble may be waiting for there?
The bright light of the morning sun tried its best to filter between the tightly closed blinds of Lemaya and Korra's room, but it had no luck until Korra yanked on the cord. "Oops."
Lemaya smiled into her pillow as she listened to Korra fumble around with the window, the sharp crack she heard most definitely from Korra breaking the blinds she was trying to open. "You need some help?" Korra jumped, not expecting Lemaya to be awake already. A light blush dotted her cheeks as she quickly shook her head and left the blinds alone, picking up the tray she had brought into the room instead and walking over to Lemaya's side of the bed.
"I didn't think a Sato Industrial airship would be so sensitive."
Lemaya chuckled as she pushed herself up into a sitting position. "I don't think Sato Industrial is the one who makes the blinds, Kor."
"Well, whoever it is needs to stop. I mean, look at them." Korra stopped her hasty arranging of the array of food she brought Lemaya to gesture to the window, the blind slats crissed and crossed over each other in ways that Lemaya didn't even know were possible. "All I did was pull the cord!"
With a click of her tongue, Korra picked up a large fruit and presented it to Lemaya, a sneaky grin on her face. "Try it."
Lemaya eyed the fruit, not recognizing its vibrant purple color. She had a feeling that it was completely fine and Korra was trying to throw her off with the look on her face, but something told her not to eat it. At least, not yet. "Who gave this to you?"
Korra frowned. She had prepared to answer what it was, not where she got it from. How exactly did she explain this? "...Kai gave it to me." Lemaya raised a brow.
"Where'd he have this? In his back pocket?" Korra swiped her tongue over her teeth. As a moment passed, she knew that there was nothing she could say but the full truth. If she responded with a quick remark now, Lemaya would see right through her.
"He needed to do something last night so I brought him down to the nearest village and he picked this up as a thank you. He said it was a great fruit, only found in the mountains south of Ba Sing Se." She shook the fruit under Lemaya's nose as if its awfully sweet smell would compel Lemaya to not think too hard about what she just said.
"You...snuck off with a child?" Lemaya pushed the fruit away, her eyes narrowing curiously. "What business did he have that he couldn't wait until we got to Ba Sing Se?"
Korra shrugged. "I didn't ask. I just said that he had to start his training pronto and let you be his sparring partner and he agreed as long as I didn't leave him in the village."
"You told him what?"
"Yeah, I figured he could use the beat down. There's surprisingly a lot of ego in his little body." Korra tried to offer the fruit to Lemaya again, but in her stupor Lemaya didn't react. So, Korra took the fruit for herself and ripped it in half with her hands, leaving the other side for Lemaya if she decided she wanted some. "This is actually really good," Korra murmured after her first bite.
