Prologue

Mom and Dad,

    I've tried to write this so many times but I haven't been able to find the right words. I should have told you that I wasn't coming back, but I didn't want to cause you any more pain than I already have. I'm okay, I promise, and I've been keeping myself busy in Republic City. I know I said I would come back to the South, but once I was out in the world again, I realized that I couldn't stay cooped up there forever. I needed to keep working on myself somewhere where I can be challenged to get better.

    If you were curious, I have found the cause of the rogue spirits and have been working to repair the damage between our worlds. It's hard work, but I'm glad to have something to keep me busy and make me feel like an actual Avatar again. As for the other thing, I know I should have been there and I am really sorry. The spirits were more trouble than I thought, but I have it under control now.

    There is a lot we have to talk about and I promise we will. I'll see you both the next time you can make it to the city, I love you both and please give Naga lots of kisses for me. Tell Lemaya congratulations and that I love her.

    I'm sorry this was short but things have been hectic here. I'll keep in touch as best as I can.
