THIS JUST IN:

The Air Nation is reborn! Thanks to Harmonic Convergence, certain people have acquired airbending abilities, including Kai and Opal. Although the new recruits show a lot of promise, they still have a lot to learn. While Korra remains safe in Zaofu, despite what shadows a few fear may be lurking under the surface, Tenzin brings the new airbenders to the Northern Air Temple to begin their spiritual training.

"His pupils pleaded with their master to eat something, but he refused, just like he had each day during the summer. Instead, he meditated and got his nourishment from the universe. So Tang Xu completed the ninety-seventh day of his historic fast on which island?"

Tenzin looked around at the group of airbenders that sat before them, but none of them looked particularly interested in what Tenzin was teaching. Especially not when it was such a beautiful day out and the breeze was gently blowing past their skin. A breeze, mind you, that they could easily be learning to control if Tenzin wasn't slogging them with unenthused stories of airbenders long past.

Feeling their attention wane in the lapse of his words, Tenzin asked again. "Does anyone know which island I am referring to?" He couldn't imagine why none of them seemed interested in the history of airbending, it was the key to understanding some of the most groundbreaking achievements of the past airbenders.

Then again, he wondered as an unfamiliar gust of wind sped past them with an uncharacteristically youthful voice scattered in its puffs, was it really?

"The answer is Whaletail Island..." the voice mused. The group before Tenzin whipped their heads around wildly, trying to figure out who was speaking. It surely couldn't have been one of them. The words were clear as day, yet no one's mouth had moved. "And look! Bison!"

A few people jumped as a tunnel of air throttled toward the ground with Tosi in tow, his hand pointing excitedly at the herd of bison flying past the edge of the courtyard where Tenzin was conducting class. Tenzin let out a sigh, knowing he had lost his pupils the second their eyes caught on the wild herd.

"Woah, when do we get to fly around on our own sky bisons?" Kai murmured as he leaned past the person sitting next to him to get a better look at the herd as they gracefully cut through the sky.

"Once you have learned enough about the airbender way to make a true connection with one." The class muttered amongst themselves but still paid Tenzin no mind even after he said they had to pay attention more if they ever hoped to get a sky bison. Tenzin relented and turned his head to Tosi as the child sat himself down to Tenzin's right and mocked his stoic posture. "Tosi, how did you do that?"

Tosi furrowed his brows and looked down at his lap. "I just got on the ground and crossed my legs." He didn't know why Tenzin would ask such a silly question, but he didn't mind answering. Maybe Tenzin was just having an off day.

"No, I meant with the wind."

"Oh." That makes more sense. Tosi shrugged. "I dunno. Ikki and I were just messing around with the vines and they were like whoosh so we went whoosh back. Yeah, that's it." It took Tenzin a moment to process what he was saying, it had been a while since he'd interacted with a child that wasn't his own.
