Only the Avatar can master all four elements and bring balance to the world

THIS JUST IN:

Six months ago, Avatar Korra defeated Amon and the Equalists. Since then, the council was disbanded, and the United Republic elected its first president, President Raiko. Tenzin's brother, Commander Bumi, retired and moved to Air Temple Island after a lovely visit with his son. And lately, Korra and her boyfriend Mako have been the talk of the town. Peace has seemingly come to Republic City, but unbeknownst to the Avatar, lingering resentments fuel the danger that now threatens the Southern Water Tribe.

An iron boat cut swiftly through turbulent, icy waters. Horns blared from the top keep of the boat where a large light spun around the sea before the ship. Two sailors leaned over the tailing of the boat, carefully watching the harsh ocean below them. "This your first watch?" one of them asked.

"Mhmm," the other replied.

"Well then, better keep your eyes peeled, laddie. Ya never know what creatures lurk in the murky depths." The other sailor gasped, leaning further overboard as a squid-bear-like shadow swam beneath the boat, its numerous tentacles trailing behind its head.

"Uh, sir?" the other sailor asked nervously.

"What?" The other sailor didn't have time to respond before his partner was snatched off of the boat by a lone tentacle.

"Man overboard! Man overboard!" the other sailor screamed, running away from the ship's edge. More tentacles suction to the front of the ship, slowly dragging the ship down to the right. The sailor screeched and rushed into the Captain's cabin, nearly falling to the floor as the ship tilted even more.

"Our trip to the Fire Nation was quite successful if I might say...so—What is it?"

The sailor furrowed his brows and uprighted himself with a cough. "Uh, Commander, do you not feel the ship slowly sinking into the water?" The Commander turned to face her other officers, rolling her eyes as she set down her paperwork.

"What did you do?"

"Nothing, just-" the sailor gasped as the boat dramatically fell over, the Captain's Cabin filling with water and drenching their feet.

The Commander sighed and marched out of the room, dragging her officers out with her as she moved to survey the damage of the ship. Noticing the heavy tentacles denting the ship's deck and the nearly sideways ship making her slide down the ship's surface, she called back to her officers, "Pull up the metal sides to shake them off and then un-dent the ship. Now!" The officers hurried and pulled parts of the iron ship up into sharp spikes, the tentacles flopping off and retreating back into the ocean with a deep groan. The Commander stood still on the deck, looking down at the officers as they returned the ship's surface to normal and righted it once again. She straightened her posture and cracked her neck around her metal-less gear as her officers knelt down to catch their breaths. The Commander moved to face the steering cabin, waving to the person in there to speed up the ship's travel to land. She turned back to her officers and scoffed lightly at their tiredness, taking a small peek over the side of the ship and watching the squid-bear-like shadow swim off further out into the ocean.

"I'm afraid that you all will have to be sharper on your lookouts. I wasn't aware the waters in the Southern Water Tribe would be so dangerous," the Commander said. She turned to head back to her quarters, the out-of-breath gasp of one of her officers causing her to pause her movements.
