Only the Avatar can master all four elements and bring balance to the world

THIS JUST IN:

After arriving in Zaofu, Korra met Opal, a new airbender whose mother is Lin's estranged half-sister, Suyin. She made her attempts, but Lin wanted nothing to do with her. Meanwhile, as Bolin and Asami both uncovered mysteries that lurked in the shadows—Asami's journey, unfortunately, ending in a perilous fight on the Zaofu outskirts—Zaheer infiltrated Air Temple Island looking for the Avatar. But after battling with Kya, he escaped and is now the most wanted man in Republic City.

Finally, there was silence.

All morning, nurses had been in and out of the room, making sure no internal injuries had appeared overnight and fussing over what healing they should do on the scrapes littered across her body. After the thirteenth hushed whisper, Asami snapped at them to just leave her be—and for a few peaceful moments, she could actually hear herself think.

Not too many thoughts came, though. They were all jumbled behind her mind trying to piece together what she remembered happening the night before and the sharp pain running over her right eye every time she blinked.

It would take some getting used to until it healed, they said, the slight blur that came and went uncontrollably through her vision, but Asami didn't mind. Especially if it meant they'd leave her alone.

"I know they can be a little overboard, but it's only to ensure the best care we can offer."

Asami turned her head from the gorgeous view out of the window her bed was nestled beside to watch as Suyin entered the room with a pile of clothes clasped between her hands, a silk green robe sitting beautifully on top of them.

"I appreciate it, Su," Asami said softly as Suyin set the clothes down on the nightstand beside the bed. Her eyes faltered for a moment at the chair she had yet to notice was propped against the nightstand, its cushion sunken in and the ottoman pulled next to it strewn with familiar-looking puzzle boxes that the drumming in her head wouldn't let her recall.

Noticing her line of sight, Suyin chuckled and took a seat in the same chair, a teasing smile on her face, as if she knew Asami would enjoy knowing why it was set at her bedside. "Are you feeling any better? I know when I came to see you last night, you were still in very rough shape." Asami winced at the memory that flashed hotly across her mind.

"Suddenly waking up in an infirmary when the last thing you remember was passing out in the middle of an alleyway will do that to you," she joked dully. Suyin remained silent, possibly because she didn't know what to say to that, but Asami didn't mind. She still had to ask, "How did I even get here? I—" Her words hushed as the light of a fire whip brightened the darkness in her mind surrounding another recollection of the night.

"Asami?" Suyin asked, worry creasing her forehead.

Asami shook her head, her previous question lost to the new one burning on the tip of her tongue. "Were you able to get the people who attacked me?" The last image she remembered seeing before it all went black was plastered to the back of her mind like a billboard. They were the same people who attacked her launch party, she was sure of it—especially after seeing that person again. And probably, if it wasn't too big of a conclusion to make, also the people Bolin had seen watching from the shadows her back when they recruited Kai.
