Earth
Fire
Air
Water
Only the Avatar can master all four elements and bring balance to the world
THIS JUST IN:
So much has changed these past three years! Asami and Lemaya have continued to reach new heights in their careers, Mako is a bodyguard and friend to the future Earth King, Prince Wu, while Bolin begrudgingly works for Kuvira, the Earth Kingdom's interim leader, who has brought stability to a nation plagued by chaos. Meanwhile, after wandering the world trying to heal herself, a spirit led Korra to the swamp, where she met Toph Beifong. Will this earthbending master be the key to Korra regaining her Avatar mojo?
"So the crowds are gathered, all excited to see my coronation, when all of a sudden, these boulders come rolling through." Wu sprinted to the top of the wide staircase before City Hall, his voice echoing across the empty courtyard. Mako kept his arms firmly crossed as he watched him continue outlining his extravagant idea. "And guess what pops out of 'em? Earthbender dames! They'll start banging the boulders like drums and sing the song of my royal lineage. It's the most dynamite six-hour show you'll ever see in your life."
Mako knew that Wu was only messing around, but he couldn't help but feel soured. It wasn't as if Wu had done anything wrong, in fact, the opposite. He hadn't stopped thinking about what Lin had told him about Wu taking his side with Raiko and all it did was make him appreciate Wu even more than he already did. Something about that, though, made him hate Wu's crazy spiels even more and he didn't know why.
"Why do you keep saying these things? Is it just to annoy me?" Wu shot Mako a grin as he set his hands playfully onto his hips. The answer was clearly a yes, but Wu would never say that. Sometimes Mako figured he must get immense enjoyment from getting a rise out of him.
"Now why would I ever do that?" he hummed.
Before he could roll his eyes, President Raiko appeared beside Wu, a forcefully stern look peering at them through his circular glasses. Wu grimaced as Raiko said, "Getting ready for your big day?"
"As ready as I'll ever be." He chuckled nervously and started to slip down the stairs away from Raiko, flashing his eyes at Mako. Without having to say, Mako knew exactly what was passing through his mind so he stepped to the side and announced some made-up appointment that Wu really needed to go to. Behind them, Tenzin had joined Raiko on the steps of City Hall, most likely discussing how fit Wu was for his future job. Not that it mattered much. Regardless of how anyone felt, he would be king after his coronation. "Thank you," Wu said as he let out a tight breath.
Mako waved him off. "Don't mention it."
"I mean it." After they were out of sight, Wu brought them both to a stop. For a moment, his fingers were curled into the fabric of Mako's suit. Then, he let go and averted his gaze. "I know I'll need to be able to handle these things on my own soon, but I really appreciate you still being here for me."
He didn't know exactly what was running through Wu's mind, but he laid his hand gently onto his shoulder and said, "I'll always be there for you, but trust me, you don't need it. I believe that you're going to be a great king no matter so don't let other people make you nervous about it, okay?"
"You really think so?" Wu muttered as he began to pout. Staring listlessly at his manicured fingernails, he said, "Because I feel like these hands are meant for hanging out with friends and having fun, not leading a nation for the rest of my life."
