QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER: what's your favourite holiday?

a bit of a filler chapter with some more info about the case and a cute Spencer-Thaleia moment at the beginning :)

Hotch had called Reid just as the kids were finishing up the details of their theory, letting them know that said discovery could wait until the following morning- it was almost midnight and they all needed to rest.

The girl picked up her jacket along with personal belongings from the floor and handed Spencer the sword, which he took reluctantly.

"Do I want to ask where you got this from?" the boy asked as they started making their way to the door. He turned slightly to see the girl smile in a way that reminded him of the Grinch. I love that movie... maybe I should watch it when we get back, it's close to Christmas anyway... Would she accept watching it with me?

"Nowhere evil" she chuckled after a second "Using Jordan and his friends' names opens a lot of doors... and gives me material" she said with a smirk "That's the only thing they're good for anyway"

"The owner of this place said that Jordan also threatened with something worse that obstruction to justice" he commented. Thaleia stopped walking, looking at the boy shocked. The moment he noticed she wasn't by his side anymore, he glanced back, smiling at her reaction.

"Doctor Spencer Reid, did you threaten that poor man to charge him with such thing?" she couldn't hold back the smile making its way to her lips "You bad boy... I'm telling mama Penelope"

"Oh shut up" he chuckled "I was worried and I needed to know where you were!"

The girl laughed even harder, walking all the way to where Spencer was standing with a silly grin on his face "Wow, that's badass"

"No it's not"

"You're right, it's not... but it was a lie I would have never expected you to use- look at you and using your white FBI boy privileges!"

"Jeez, I have the feeling I'm gonna be hearing about this for a while..."

"You will!" she nudged him with her elbow "Welcome to the dark side"

The two laughed as they made their way out of the building, the old woman from earlier watching them as they did so.

"So now that you got your girlfriend back you're nice, huh? And who's gonna clean up all the mess she left behind? And make up for the money we lost?" she yelled with raspy voice.

"First of all, you had two groups scheduled, which was a total of barely $100- don't come at me like you lost a fortune" Thaleia replied sassily "And second, my superior will send someone in to re-arrange it all back into place. Have a good night, ma'am"

With those last words, the girl turned back to keep on making her way to the SUV Spencer had used to get there.

The boy held back a smile, kinda liking her sassy side and happy to see she wasn't down in the dumps, like the rest of the team probably thought she was.

Or at least she's not showing it... he thought.

He was pretty sure that Thaleia was hiding how she actually felt, she often did that... Overcompensating, like she had said before: act exaggeratedly happy to mask that you might actually feel like crap. She had always been like that, even in high school. Lately Spencer had been remembering things from his childhood, specially things related to the girl walking in front of him. She'd do something and his mind would take him back in time to school and a time when he had seen Thaleia do that same stuff. He recently recalled during the case prior to their current one that, even when she was younger, his crush wasn't able to stay still- there was at least one part of her body that was moving, whether it was her leg or fingers.
