Chapter 35

*this is a little of a filler chapter that will lead to some drama/major event. I'd recommend not skipping it because it has information about the case that will be helpful to not get lost when the drama starts :)

QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER: what languages do you speak?

After the long wait, Spencer was finally able to go back to work. Due to having taking care of himself -with Thaleia's help-, his doctor had stated that he might be able to join the field sooner than expected, which he was so happy about.

After the three mandatory weeks of 24/7 surveillance were over, Thaleia went back to her place, checking on Spencer via Penelope once in a while, as he spent most of his days in the office with her. The colourful woman had expressed how annoyed she had been for not being able to properly celebrate Reid's birthday, but the boy had assured her that there was no need to, that he had actually spent that day in a really enjoyable way.

At first, Garcia didn't know how to take that answer: she knew he and her friend were together because Thaleia was taking care of him, but she didn't know what they had exactly done for the baby genius to say such thing. So she investigated.

And oh boy was she happy when she found out what they did.

Penelope confronted Reid about it, and the boy had not been able to hide the smile when remembering the day, blushing really hard when the woman insinuated that maybe he enjoyed it way more because Thaleia was there, and not just because he was making kids happy.

Before the technical analyst was able to do more than just gasp at the boy's reaction, they got a call from the rest of the team, asking for certain information on the case they had been on at the moment.

Needless to say that Spencer avoided any sort of conversation with Penelope that wasn't related to a case, afraid that the woman would find out about his crush -which Garcia couldn't help but speculate about.

A week into Reid being able to be back on the field, the team was called to help with a case in Seattle: the police thought that it might be related to a recent problem with gangs and drugs but Thaleia's insight helped them find evidence of the attacks being staged to seem that way.

"What did they find in the crime scenes?" asked Morgan, opening the case file on top of the table in the jet.

"It's what they didn't find" his eyes moved to Hotch momentarily before turning back to the file "Apparently the groups that were trying to be set up had an order- a ritual in which they inflicted the wounds on the victims. Some of them had been revealed to the media and other details hadn't, and the bodies only had those that had been mentioned in press conferences"

"That, and also the fact that these gangs had a really precise victimology: males and females in their late-20's to mid-30's, single with no children, stable job and financials, lived in apartment buildings and with at least one sibling, older or younger"

"One of the gangs that was framed left a note inserted into a particularly deep wound, specifically a cut that allowed the paper to be placed horizontally between the radius and the ulna of the victim. In it, there would a number written in roman symbols. Said piece, was not found in the bodies" Thaleia added to Reid's description of the victims.

"Do we know if these are the work of a gang or various ones trying to get rid of the competency?"

"Whatever it is, we have to find out before more people become corpses"
