QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER: Do you wear glasses?
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Jordan insisted on keeping Thaleia at the hospital in Maine for at least another ten days. Needless to say that the girl refused. She claimed she was fine, or at least good enough to go back home and rest there instead of at a hospital in another state, away from the team.
Being the bad influence that she was, the youngest managed to convince Spencer and Penelope to help her 'break out' of the hospital, treating the place as if it were some sort of prison. Or at least that's what they had her believe. Reid spoke with the Doctor and Jordan, letting them know about the girl's plans and that everything would be okay, that he and the other BAU member would take care of her.
"I love that your place is like a library" Thaleia spoke from the couch she was currently sitting on "but you need more variety..." she turned her head to look at Reid, who was seated on his desk working on some paperwork.
"Watch a movie or something" the boy-genius wrote down some stuff for the case he had assisted on.
"It was a comment, not me implying that I'm bored- which I kind of am, by the way" he turned to her and they held eye contact for a few seconds "Can I cook something?"
"Can you do that from the couch?"
"Uh... no?"
"Then no, you can't"
"Party poooooper..." she huffed out sitting back the way she was "Next time we go out we could go over to a book shop and get some more"
"You mean next time I go out I could go to a book store and get some books? Sure"
"This is so annoying! I'm like Rapunzel, trapped in a tower!"
"Yes, you're exactly like Rapunzel" he replied mindlessly. He had somewhat forced Thaleia to stay at his place, under his watch. But he hadn't realised how tricky taking care of her would be. She could be bored out of her mind one second and completely zoned out and ignoring everyone, inside her head the next one.
Hotch had called the boy when he heard that Thaleia was coming back home, and Reid didn't even need to ask before the boss was telling him that he had to stay by her side, giving him as much time off as she needed to get better. The man had also informed them that they would be receiving regular visits from the team members, including ones in which food was involved.
"Hey, Bubbles"
"Tell me"
"What would you call an alligator that helps the FBI when it comes to being on the field?"
The boy sighed, knowing well that whatever was about to come would be a lame joke "What would you call it?"
"An investigator" her answer was followed by a few seconds of silence "Get it? Because it would need to wear a bulletproof vest"
"Yeah, I got it... you need to upgrade the level of your jokes"
"They're fantastic"
"Sure" to his surprise, Thaleia stayed silent for a while- enough to let him finish the paperwork he needed to get done "Are you alright?" he asked after he was done tidying up. Spencer walked around the sofa in his living room to find the girl fast asleep, holding close to her chest a stuffed animal Rossi had gotten her when they got back from Maine. It was a penguin.
"Stop staring, it's creepy" okay, she wasn't asleep.
"You were too quiet compared to how you usually are" the boy lifted the girl's legs and sat down on the far end of the couch "What are your plans for today?"
