Chapter 12
2.113 wordsI'm aware that the song in this chapter is from 2009 and this story is happening much earlier, but it's a tune that Thaleia would really enjoy and it matches her personality so I threw it in... I also love it so much so *shrugs*
For those who want to know, the song is 'Lost in Stereo' by All Time Low

QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER: what's your favourite song at the moment?

True to Derek's words, the team didn't take long to arrive. That same evening, actually. After a few more details they had asked Penelope for, they had everything they needed to catch the Unsub.
"Do you want to come with me and pick them up at the airport?" Penelope asked the girl once they got out of the building "We might go out and have a couple of drinks"
"Tempting..." and it didn't take much persuasion from Garcia before the two of them were in an SUV each and on their way to the airport. It had been so long since Thaleia was able to drive and she still loved it as much as she did when she learned.
By the time the two of them arrived, the team had already gotten off the plane and were waiting next to it to be picked up. They all smiled when Garcia hopped out of the car, sending them a big smile as well.
Once they all got close to the vehicles, Thaleia stepped out to greet them. Safe to say they were slightly taken back by her presence but, apparently, they had taken a liking on her from when they worked together, and each greeted her. Well, almost all of them.
Spencer stood behind, frowning at the girl standing there as if it were completely normal.
"Who is up for a drink?" Penelope asked. A following of Me's erupted from the group and they started packing the cars,
As Reid opened the door of Garcia's SUV, Morgan was sprawled on the back seats "Move over" he spoke.
"Nuh-huh. I'm staying like this. Go to the other car"
"Morgan don't be childish"
"You are the one who doesn't want to be in the same car as Thaleia, so who is the childish one?"
"Come on, man" the bald guy just smiled, not moving from his position "I hate you" he closed the door abruptly.
If he hadn't been lucky enough already, he sure was now. Note the sarcasm.
The only seat available was the front one, right next to Thaleia- who was ready to start a fist fight with Hotch over who was going to drive.
Rossi and Hotch made a light conversation in the backseats as the radio played some random music. Said music was the only words spoken at the front, as Spencer felt uncomfortable and Thaleia was concentrated on the road.
During the trip to wherever the bar Garcia had chosen was, Reid noticed how the girl that annoyed him so much would lip-sync to the songs coming up, and it didn't take him long to find out that it wasn't the radio- it was a playlist she had created on her phone, which was connected to the car.
He tried to distract himself by listening to the music, analysing the lyrics, and playing a little game in his head of 'trying to predict the next line'. He obviously wasn't familiar with pop culture and pop tendencies, as he kept getting the wrong words.
There was a song tho, that he did recognize: Every breath you take.
For some reason, that song triggered a memory that he didn't even know he had: a girl, playing the guitar and singing the melody as her fingers moved along the fret.
