Changes in Plans

It had been a few weeks, and Pogtopia really grew within that time. Niki escaped from Manberg and joined us, and even Eret came by to let us know he was on our side. Dream popped in and out of our base, bringing supplies and information, sometimes even doing a favor for me by telling me how Schlatt was doing.

"He's paranoid all the time," Dream had told me, "Doesn't trust anyone outside his own cabinet anymore. The remaining Manberg citizens are all fed up with him and would probably side with Pogtopia if asked."

Things weren't looking good for my brother. Two days after that, Tommy brought a betrayed and frustrated Quackity to our base.

"Schlatt wanted to tear down the White House!" Quackity exclaimed angrily, "I couldn't let him do that, it's one of the best buildings in Manberg. It's one of the best buildings I helped build!" Some of the others weren't keen on letting him join our side, though, since he had been the vice president.

"Guys, listen —no seriously," Tommy told us, "Quackity isn't just angry at Schlatt. He killed him! I was watching nearby when the two of them got in a fight over the White House. And, well, Schlatt only has one canon life left."

The news was quite shocking to all of Pogtopia, including me. I was upset over Schlatt's loss of a canon life, but I distracted myself from thinking too much about it. If I walked around looking depressed, some people would start saying that I was still on Schlatt's side, and that wouldn't help me right now. So, I busied myself during the day and kept to myself.

Sometimes, Tubbo and I would talk privately about everything we were feeling. We would spend an hour or two out in the woods, gathering materials, and talk about almost anything. How I felt torn with fighting my brother and about still caring for him. How Tubbo knew Wilbur was losing his mind, but neither he nor Tommy could figure out a way to help him.

A few days later, Wilbur tried to blow up Manberg again. The plan failed once more, though, and Tommy told me that Schlatt claimed to have moved the tnt under Manberg to be under Pogtopia.

"That's impossible!" I said to him, "I've been here in Pogtopia since the festival and Schlatt has been in Manberg. There's no way he could have done that, he's bluffing."

"We don't know for sure, but you're probably right," Tommy replied. As we were talking though, I heard the creaking of the wooden steps that lead into Pogtopia. We were talking in the bedroom, so I dragged Tommy out the door to see who it was. At the bottom of the steps was Fundy, clutching a book in hands and an expression of nervousness on his face.

"What are you doing here?" Tommy asked bitterly.

"I left Manberg," Fundy replied, "I wandered around in the forest for awhile until I saw Niki and Eret and followed them." Tommy narrowed his eyes, and I knew he didn't believe a word Fundy said. I set my hand on Tommy's shoulder and squeezed it.

"You can't just come here and say that, no one will believe you," I told Fundy, "You burned the flag, you seemed content with the life Schlatt gave you, everyone will think you're his spy. Wilbur was incredibly upset when he found out all the things you did."

"I know, I know," he sighed, "It was a mistake. I got so carried away with trying to help Schlatt that I didn't realize all the damage he was doing. Not until it was too late. Can you ever forgive me?"

"I can, but I don't know about the others," I said. I glanced over and Tommy and motioned towards Fundy. Tommy scowled but gave in.

"I guess I can, too," Tommy muttered, "What's that book?" Fundy looked down at the book he was holding, almost seeming to have forgotten it was there.

"Oh! This was my journal," Fundy said, holding it out to us, "I wrote down everything that happened while I was in Manberg. It's not very useful, though, you guys probably know everything that's in there anyways." I quickly flipped through the entries, glancing over what was written.

"It's the thought that counts," I commented, shrugging. I handed the book to Tommy, who looked through it as well.

"So, did Schlatt really move the tnt? Is it actually no longer under Manberg?" Tommy asked. Fundy shook his head, as I expected.

"A bluff, just as I thought," I said, "I don't think he even knows where Pogtopia is." After a few minutes, we brought Fundy to see everyone else. Although Tubbo was happy to see him, Wilbur and the others were unsure.

"I'm sorry I didn't help you guys sooner," Fundy told everyone, "I just felt so stuck there. It was a mistake in the first place, but then it just became so hard to escape. I want to fight with Pogtopia now, though, if you all will let me."

"I know it's not really my place to talk, but I see no problem with Fundy joining us," I noted, upon seeing Wilbur's hesitation, "We've all made mistakes before. If you have managed to accept me, a blood relative of Schlatt's, then why can't you accept Fundy?"

"I agree with (Y/n)," Tubbo added, "Fundy was always very nice while (Y/n) and I were still in Manberg, and I don't think he will do anything to harm us."

"Fine, Fundy can stay," Wilbur decided, "Let's get back to work. A war is upon us." The group of Pogtopians dispersed, leaving myself, Fundy, and Tubbo alone. Fundy seemed upset that Wilbur still didn't forgive him.

"Don't worry," Tubbo said, "Just give him time. Him and everyone else." I nodded my agreement, and Fundy seemed comforted by our words.

Then, the next day, the unthinkable happened. I was in the storage room organizing the supplies when I heard the wooden stairs creaking. I glanced outside the door and saw Dream walking down them. At first, I wasn't surprised at all, for this was quite normal. Dream would come by to talk with either Wilbur or me, rathering the rest of Pogtopia not see his presence.

When I saw him, I decided to go and talk to him. I was desperate for news about my brother, since he had just lost a canon life, and it had been almost a week since Dream's last visit. I had been waiting to ask the masked man about Schlatt.

"Hey, Dream," I said, walking over, "So, did my brother really lose a canon life? Quackity came here a few days ago saying the two of them fought and that he killed Schlatt." Dream nodded, and my heart sank. I didn't want to believe it, but it was true. Schlatt was now on his final life, and if he wasn't careful, he would be dead.

"Yes, Quackity did kill him. He's pretty angry right now, having lost his right hand man. The only two people left on his side are, honestly, Karl and Ponk," Dream told me, "George is technically still part of his cabinet, too, but he hasn't been near Manberg for awhile. I haven't seen him in a few days, either. I think he's gathering materials or something?"

"Oh. I could imagine that Schlatt would be upset," I replied.

"Ah, (Y/n)? Could you do me a quick favor?" Dream asked, "I came here for a bit more important business then being a messenger, and I would appreciate it if you could ask all of Pogtopia to come here."

"Really? You never wanted them to see you before," I said, confused, "They all knew you were helping, obviously, but they've never actually seen you in Pogtopia. What makes you want to talk to everyone now?"

"I'll tell everyone at once, okay?" he responded, a slight edge in his voice, "Just gather everyone here, please." I nodded and ran off to find the others, though I was still slightly confused.

"So, what's going on, Dream?" Wilbur asked. Dream slipped his hands into the pockets of his jeans and glanced around the room. Some people, like Fundy, Niki, and Eret, kept a safe distance from the masked man. Others, like Tommy and Tubbo, faced him confidently though they weren't in positive relations. Then, there was Wilbur, Techno, and myself, who had no issues with speaking to Dream.

"I won't be helping Pogtopia anymore."

A/n - Uh oh, cliffhanger! This was a bit of a filler chapter to bring us closer to the Manberg-Pogtopia war. I shoved all the smaller canonical events together without sounding too rushed (I hope!) I also adjusted the canonical events slightly, so that Schlatt lost a canon life previously, instead of losing his first one during the festival.

Also thank you all so much for over 470 reads!! That's so amazing!
Have a nice day, you lovely, lovely ppl :)
