"Why are we going to this place again?" I asked. Schlatt turned and gave me a disappointed expression, shaking his head, but I rolled my eyes at him. He didn't thoroughly explain the reason, and I needed to make sure we weren't diving headfirst into trouble.

"It's called L'Manburg," Schlatt replied blatantly, "And we're going there because an old friend of mine wants me to endorse him in their presidential election." He spoke the word friend distastefully, and I had a nagging feeling that he and this friend didn't get along too well in the past.

"And we're only going there to endorse this friend in this election?" I repeated, "Not going to cause any trouble, are we?" Schlatt snorted and turned away, staring straight ahead into the forest.

"Who are you, my mom?" He said, annoyed. I noticed that he was diverting away from my question, but chose to let him go for the time being. I shrugged and looked away as well.

We continued through the forest until nightfall. When it had become too dark to see our surroundings, we stopped for the night in a small clearing. I made a small fire, and Schlatt sat down next to it, his back against a nearby tree. He closed his eyes, and stretched his arms overhead, yawning obnoxiously.

"Goodnight," I told him, "I'll see you in the morning."

"Night," he replied groggily. I walked over and sat down next to him, leaning against the same tree. I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep, my hand draped over my sword.

We set off again the next morning, and just before noon I could spot an assortment of structures in the distance. The two of us travelled closer, until the buildings were all around us. I had yet to spot a person, though, and I was ready to assume that this wasn't L'Manburg.

"That's it, over there," Schlatt said, pointing ahead, "It's been awhile, but I'd recognize Tommy's ugly house from anywhere." I looked where he pointed and saw a hill, with a small hobbit-hole like cottage built into the side. Other buildings dotted the landscape as well, including a set of tall, black walls against the horizon.

"Don't look that ugly to me," I commented, to Schlatt's dismay. He tried to shove me off the path, but I ducked his arms and kicked him in the shin.

"I hate that you're good at fighting," he muttered under his breath. I laughed and smiled teasingly.

"You'd be dead ten times over if I wasn't," I retorted, and he scowled, knowing I was right. We walked for another minute or two, when two figures appeared down the path from us.

"Hey, Schlatt!" the blonde one yelled, waving his arms, "Schlatt! It's me, Tommy, remember me?" Tommy and the other man walked closer to us.

"Sure I do," Schlatt groaned, only loud enough for me to hear.

"Hi Schlatt, it's nice to see you again. Sorry, I don't think I've met you before—" the other said, turning to me, "I'm Wilbur, by the way. And that's Tommy. Who are you?" I was about to answer, but Schlatt pushed in front of me.

"This is my darling wife, so keep your dirty hands off—" he started, but I smacked him on the back of his right horn before he could continue. Wilbur and Tommy were looking at me with a strange expression on their faces.

"Ow!"

"Yeah, I'm not his wife, don't listen to him," I told them, rolling my eyes, "My name is (Y/n), I'm Schlatt's little sister. Nice to meet you." Tommy let out a loud breath of relief.

"Oh, thank god," he sighed, "I was just about to get really concerned. I didn't know Schlatt had a younger sister. It's nice to meet you as well, (Y/n)."

"Can we get going now? I'm exhausted, we've been travelling for days," Schlatt commented, rubbing his horn.

"Oh, of course," Wilbur said, "For the time being, you can at the community house, there are a couple empty rooms on the second floor. Tommy can take you over there, since I've got a couple things to deal with at the moment. By the way, the rally is tomorrow at noon, Schlatt."

"Ah, got it," Schlatt answered, "I'll be there. See you around, Wilbur." Wilbur nodded and waved goodbye, leaving the two of us with Tommy. I could tell that Schlatt did not enjoy being around the boy, his entire body was tensed up and his voice was on edge.

"I'll show you the community house," Tommy told us, and we followed him down the path. After a few minutes, we found ourselves in front of a rather large building that stood in the middle of a lake.

"You all are real good at building," Schlatt commented sarcastically. I knew he was implying that the building was ugly, but Tommy missed this meaning and thought of it as a compliment. He beamed and guided us inside the community house. I almost felt bad for Tommy. He tried so hard to please Schlatt, but my brother had no interest in him whatsoever.

"Thank you, Tommy," I said with a nod, "If you don't mind, Schlatt and I need some time to settle in. We might look around more some other time, though."

"Oh yeah, that's fine," Tommy replied, "I'll see you both later. If you need me, I'll probably be by the podium or the embassy. Bye, Schlatt! Bye, (Y/n)!" After a quick wave goodbye, Tommy turned around and left the community house.

"Finally, he's gone," Schlatt sighed, sitting down in a chair, "That kid gets on my nerves. I can't believe I have to endorse him for vice president."

"I could tell," I said, laughing, "And don't think too much of it, Schlatt. Do what you came here to do, then we can set out on our way."

"I guess," he replied, "I think I'll take a nap, I'm exhausted from walking."

"Go ahead, I might walk around for a bit," I told him, "Maybe I'll meet some of the other people who live here." He shrugged and turned around, walking up the stairs to the second floor. I wasn't sure if he even heard what I said, but I walked out of the community house and set off in exploration.
