Everyone fell silent.
Techno let his arm drop to his side and the tip of his blade grazed the stone flooring beneath us. I stared down at the center of the ruins with wide eyes, not believing what I just heard. Tubbo stood in shock, his eyes frozen onto Tommy. The blonde seemed to be equally as shocked.
"You—" Tubbo stuttered, "You really—?"
Tommy's fingers loosened and his axe clanged to the ground beside him. "Tubbo, give him the disc."
I watched as a figure in a green hoodie dropped down to where the boys were standing. Dream offered an outstretched hand to the brunet. Tubbo hesitated before pulling the disc out and placing it in the masked man's palm.
"Thank you, Tubbo," Dream said, tucking away the object, "now—first of all—I just want to say, Tubbo, that you are an idiot. You are such an idiot."
"Hey, woah!" I shouted out, crossing my arms, "You fucker, you can't just—"
The man cut me off by holding up a hand. I paused mid-sentence and dropped silent. Then, he turned back to the boys. "Tubbo, you literally just gave me the disc. The most powerful item on the server. You are such an idiot."
"I—" Tubbo'a face paled.
"Not only that, you're the worst President I've ever seen! You have absolutely no authority—Quackity is more of a President than you! (Y/n) is more of a President! And then you—you just handed me this disc!" Dream laughed, motioning towards the brunet boy.
"Tubbo, you gave me the last thing I needed to destroy L'Manburg once and for all. Three days from now—three days, all that will be left of this country will be rubble," the masked man taunted, his voice low. Dream turned so that he was facing Techno and me.
"Techno—" the man asked, "would you care to join me? I'm sure we can make an arrangement."
The pigman raised an eyebrow and smirked at the offer, and my heart sank deeper in my chest than I knew possible. Why was I surprised at Techno's acceptance? I always knew that he despised this country and wanted it to be destroyed, yet a part of me still clung to hope that the male could listen to reason.
Just because we were on friendly terms didn't mean I could change his perspective. I should have known that by now. I should have learned.
"Destroying L'Manburg, you say?" Techno repeated in his monotone voice. I could hear a hint of intrigue in the undertone. "I suppose we could put together a little something."
The two boys stood in shock, along with all of the others gathered around the ruins. Yet, I found myself feeling nothing but indifference to what was happening. I swallowed the growing lump in my throat and zoned back in to the conversation.
"Tommy, are you coming with me?" Techno asked in a gentler voice.
The blonde shook his head. "No. I'm with Tubbo."
"Are you sure? He and everyone else abandoned you at your lowest point," the pigman questioned him, "and you'll just go back to them? I gave you a home, Tommy, when no one else would. I protected you and cared for you."
"No, Techno," the boy responded darkly, "I've seen what I can become. I've seen my mistakes. I don't want to be like that anymore."
"Are you certain, Tommy? You can't turn back once you've made this decision." I could sense the hurt in Techno's voice. I didn't turn to look at him, but I knew he was holding a blank expression even if he was upset. This wasn't the first time he was betrayed by Tommy. Sadly, I was sure he wouldn't let it go so easily this time.
