"Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream—"

"Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream."

"Why the fuck are you still going?" Fundy groaned irritatedly, "Please just shut up!" I glanced back at Ranboo, who was seated directly behind me, and grinned at him mischievously.

"Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream—" Ranboo hummed, bobbing his head with the tune.

"If you see a crocodile, don't forget to scream!" I finished, yelling out the last word. I shifted my weight back and forth, causing the boat to rock lightly.

"Wha—(Y/n)! Ranboo!" Fundy exclaimed. Ranboo laughed, joining in with me to rock the boat even more. The fox eared man shielded his face with his arms as water splashed onto us.

"Will you two stop fooling around?" Big Q sighed from the boat to our left, "We're almost back to L'Manberg."

"We are?" I asked, squinting my eyes to look into the distance, "Oh, I can see the docks!"

"Took you guys long enough," Techno muttered.

"Listen, okay? At least we didn't walk," Big Q answered in annoyance, "At least we took your damn advice and cut through the ocean—"

"Big Q, it's okay," Tubbo said from the front, "Just let it go." The Vice President huffed, turning to look away from us. We continued in silence for a few minutes, the only sounds being from the waves or our paddles.

"Does anyone else have an issue with Ranboo and me singing?" I questioned, breaking the silence.

"Yeah, me—"

"Other than Fundy," I added quickly, talking over the fox-eared man. He sputtered, looking over at Big Q while motioning at me in confusion.

"No," Tubbo said between breaths as he laughed. I glanced back at Ranboo, who smiled at me in amusement.

"Row, row, row your boat~"

Soon, our boats landed on the shore and we climbed out. Tubbo, Big Q, and Fundy walked at the front, with Fundy holding a chain that connected to Techno's cuffs, while Ranboo and I followed behind.

"It feels like it's been ages since we've been home," I noted, looking at the buildings of L'Manberg ahead of us, "How long were we gone?"

"About a day and half, I believe," Ranboo responded, "It's felt like longer, hasn't it?" I nodded, shoving my hands into the pocket of my hoodie. We finally arrived at L'Manberg and travelled across the wooden bridges towards the stage that was set up for this specific trial.

"You actually got him," a voice said from above. I looked up and saw Phil on his second floor balcony, looking down at us with a look of sadness and disbelief on his face.

"Phil!" Techno exclaimed with wide eyes.

"—you're on house arrest," Tubbo reminded the winged man.

"Phil, what did they do to you?" Techno shouted, pulling on the cuffs. There was a pain and desperation in his voice that I had rarely heard before it, and I watched in surprise as the pigman struggled against his restraints as Phil watched sadly from above.

"Come on," Big Q sighed. They continued after a moment, and when I looked up at Phil as we passed, he caught my eye and his expression turned softer. His mouth opened and he silently mouthed the words 'thank you' before turning around and entering his house.

I paused in surprise, looking up and staring at the balcony door as Phil shut it behind himself. Ranboo stopped walking and glanced back at me with an eyebrow raised.

"You coming?" He asked.

"Oh, yeah," I replied quickly, speeding up to walk beside him.

The preparations for the trial passed in a blur, and I often found myself lost in thought between tasks. I kept thinking back to Phil and his words. His attitude towards me seemed to have changed since I chucked the key to his ankle monitor through a window and barely missed his head.

Phil must have warned Techno, since he knew we were coming. But it didn't matter in the end, though. We still managed to bring him back for the trial.

"Hey, (Y/n)?" Someone said, "(Y/n)?" I blinked quickly as a hand waved before of my eyes. Tubbo stood in front of me in his presidential suit, a concerned look on his face. "Are you okay?"

"Sorry," I muttered, "Just thinking."

"A lot has happened," he replied understandingly, "It'll be nice once this is all over, yeah?" I gave him a small smile and nodded. He smiled back at me, taking my hand to lead me back to the others.

Tubbo took his place behind the microphone while I stood behind him along the side of the stage. I fumbled with the hem of my hoodie as Tubbo got ready to begin, sneaking glances over at Techno. The pigman was inside a small cell on the stage, leaning against the bars in an odd calmness.

"What's going on?" Ghostbur asked, appearing beside the stage. He was holding a lead attached to a blue colored sheep.

"Nothing important, Ghostbur," Techno said, looking over at the translucent figure.

"Oh, okay. I'll just stay and watch, then," the ghost replied cheerfully. Techno shrugged, turning to face forward again. I pulled my mouth into a thin line and glanced up, my stomach tying into knots as I watched the hanging anvil drift gently in the breeze. I followed the anvil up the brown rope that was tied around it and across the pole, down to where it connected with a metal lever next to the stage.

I wouldn't want Ghostbur to watch. And Techno knows just as well as we do about what's going to happen. I found myself staring at Techno's strangely calm demeanor. Speaking of which—how the hell can he still be acting like this while he's faced with death?

"Technoblade robbed our country," Tubbo began, cutting my thoughts short, "Of everything that made it special." Suddenly, two dark figures flashed in the corner of my eye, darting across the rooftops. I looked up at where I had seen them and squinted, unable to find any more movement.

Who was that?

"Of everything that defined what it was."

A small, greenish-blue object flew through the air and landed in front of the stage. Tubbo paused his speech and all of us watched in surprise as purple particles sparkled over the spot, disappearing to reveal a man in a white hoodie. He tossed a handful of potions on the ground, the glass bottles shattering against the wooden platform, and approached Ranboo with his axe in hand.

"What is Punz doing?!" Tubbo exclaimed from the microphone in shock. Ranboo blocked Punz's axe with his shield and swung his own axe at the man in the white hoodie. Tubbo jumped off the stage and shot an arrow from his crossbow, but it flew past and landed in the water beyond the platform.

I grabbed my sword and dropped down the side of the stage, running towards Tubbo as Punz shot an arrow at him. Tubbo blocked it with his shield, and turned towards Big Q, who was standing on the side, watching the scene blankly.

"Big Q, pull the lever!" Tubbo yelled to him. Big Q blinked in confusion for a moment before dropping his axe and running towards the bottom of the wooden pole.

"Heh?" Techno called out, his hands gripped on the bars as he peered through.

"Pull the lever, Big Q!"

The beanie wearing man pushed down on the lever with both hands and everyone froze as the rope snapped, sending the iron anvil flying down towards the ground. Techno stared at it, his mouth slightly open and a look of fear on his face as the anvil barreled towards him. Even though I wanted to, I couldn't bring myself to look away.

The anvil hit the floor of the stage with a loud, echoing boom, and was suddenly engulfed by a firework of green and yellow.
