"Landon, I just realized something." Carlota said, sipping the freshly squeezed orange juice.

He looked away from his phone to face her.

"I don't really know much about you, personally. I know you have a sister, and you like cooking. I don't really know anything else about you."

He smiled. "What do you want to know?"

"Let's start with your friends. I haven't really seen you with friends."

He looked at her and smiled. "I have 3 friends in total. You, Elizabeth and a guy you don't know."

"Will I get to meet the last one?" She asked. Carlota would love to see the type of people he surrounds himself with.

"Sure, but you don't have a lot of friends either." He chuckled.

She smirked at the comment. "Landon, whether or not you know this, I'm actually quite popular, despite doing school online."

"Then how come most of the time, you're with me, your family, your stripper friend or Brinley?"

Carlota found it amusing that he thought she wasn't that popular. "Landon, I can reassure you. I am very popular. Check my phone." She handed him her phone, unlocked and he scrolled through messages to see she had a lot of contacts. Not to mention the number of notifications she got from apps like Snapchat and Instagram.

"Wow," He said, not knowing what to say.

She collected her phone back before he'd started looking through the messages and accusing her of breaking her 'promise'.

"Landon, why does Annie live with you? Are you actually her father?" She asked.

The question had been bugging her ever since he heard him say he killed his parents.

She realized that he had completely ignored the question and acted as if he never heard her. "Landon?" She said, a bit louder.

"Yes?" He replied, raising a brow. She was about to speak but he quickly cut her off. "Carlota, you know how you were upset when your father came back and I didn't want to pressure you too much on telling me? Can you do the same with that question?"

"Okay, first of, I remember you begging me to tell you and not letting me rest until I told you and second of all, even if you did leave the matter alone, I still want to know what you meant by, 'I killed my parents."

"I was joking." He said, forcing a smile. "I wouldn't commit murder, Carlota." He chuckled. "Are you scared of me?"

She didn't know whether to pressure him to tell him more or just leave it. "There was a time I asked Annie why she lived with you. Do you know what she said?"

He looked at her unamused.

"She told me that you adopted her and moved her to America. Why did you move her to America and if she's your 'daughter' why do you call her your sister?"

"I don't want to tell you, Carlota." He sighed. "Because if I tell you, you'll get all weird around me and stop talking to me."

Carlota held his hand. "I'd never do that." She smiled.

Bringing his orange juice to his lips, he took a quick sip before telling her. "Yeah, I did kill my parents." He answered, honestly.

She was taken aback by how calmly the words flowed out of his mouth. Landon King killed his own parents. Carlota refused to believe him. She hadn't even noticed how long she'd been staring at him.
