Kiba had a smart idea for Hinata to get married on her birthday so that her scatterbrain husband wouldn't have two different dates to remember. Ruma made him take Kiri and leave the two girls to talk.
"Fine," he took hold of his child, smiling, "Daddy will take you and we'll go watch t.v."
Hinata smiled and reached up to grab the baby's hand as Kiba walked away.
"She's really cute Ruma," Hina looked back to the mother, "A little chubby, but adorable."
"Yeah. We were afraid she would starve the first few weeks," Ruma laughed at herself, "Anyways, what happened with you and Naruto."
"We both agreed last night to wait until after the wedding. I love him, but I shouldn't rush into something," she tapped her pen on the table.
"Good for you," Ruma smiled, "Now what day do you want to get married?"
"A special day for me is too far away," Hinata unconsciously smiled while thinking of Naruto.
"Hinata," Ruma tapped her nose, "Is it Naruto's birthday?"
Hyuuga blushed, "Maybe," she laid the pen down.
"No date is too far away. It'll just give you more time to plan things out," Hinata's friend leaned back in her chair.
"I guess so, but," she looked up at Ruma, "I want to get married so bad!," she whined and squealed at the same time.
"Shikamaru," his mother came through the door.
"Mom," he said with some strength. Kanai had nursed him back to health, despite him being in a hospital full of professionals.
"Shikamaru," she walked over to the bed quickly, hugging him gently, "I'm so-sorry," she cried.
He hugged her back, "It's okay."
"I didn't do anything to stop it."
"You couldn't," Kanai sounded from the other side of the bed. She'd been sitting there, quiet for a change.
"Kanai," Mrs. Nara looped one arm around the girl, "Thank you for saving my son."
"I'd do it again in a heartbeat," she smiled to herself.
Shikamaru's mother straightened herself up, sniffed, and wiped the tears off her cheeks, "I don't know what I did to deserve you two, but it must've been a pretty good deed."
Kanai smiled and Shikamaru reached over and grabbed the orange haired beauty's hand, "She is really amazing."
His mother laughed as much as her broken heart would allow, "I'm sorry I didn't visit sooner."
"It's okay," he looked up at her, "I know how hard it must've been for you."
"I'll get 'em back," Kanai stood up, "That's a promise and you can hold me to it."
"Thank you, but I don't want anyone else to get hurt," she slightly smiled.
"I won't," Kanai shook her head, "I'm stronger than the average ninja."
"And so are they," Shikamaru pulled her back to his side, "We're not letting you go."
She opened her mouth to argue some more, but seeing the threatening tears from the Naras she stopped herself, "Fine."
It was early January and the NaruHina couple decided to get married in February, on whatever day they could. It seemed far away, but lately the days had been flying by. It wouldn't be long until one story ended and another began.
Hinata planned everything and Naruto agreed with whatever she wanted because he wanted her to be happy. She picked the flowers, he said yes. She found some colors she liked, so he liked them too.
She wanted him to pick the best man so he told her she needed to pick the maid of honor.
Hinata's first choice was Hanabi, but her said she wouldn't do it, so she picked Tenten, since she helped her get her mother's dress.
Tenten happily accepted and forced Hinata to let her buy them a present.
Now, a few days before everything was to take place, the Konoha Nine were all putting finishing touches on things, even Uchiha. He and Sakura had started dating so she talked him into it somehow.
"Naruto," Hinata smiled as he climbed down from hanging up streamers, request of the Hokage, "Everything's come along nice, don't ya think?"
"Yeah," he looked up at the clock, "It's almost time for Shikamaru to be released."
Her eyes shot to the time piece, "Finally. I'm glad he's okay."
"Yeah," Ino came up beside her, "He can take a lot just to keep Kanai happy."
"He..," Hinata trailed off and smiled, "He's really sweet."
"Yep," Ino smirked and trotted off to help someone who needed it.
Hinata turned back to Naruto and reached for his hand.
"Nervous," he started to lead her down the aisle.
"A little. I'm also excited, happy, and tired from working all day," she laughed.
He grinned at her. He'd gotten a tiny bit taller just so that he had to look down at her.
Hinata ran her fingers along the churches pews. In two days she would be marrying the boy she fell in love with and watched grow into a man. Every girl dreams of unifying with their childhood sweetheart, but she acctually got to do it.
At that moment, the doors in the back of the room opened and Kanai stepped in, holding the door for Shikamaru who was crutch-bound.
"Shikamaru!," Ino and Choji ran over to him, "You're okay!," the blonde hugged him lightly.
He still seemed like he hadn't fully recovered, but he didn't want to miss the wedding. He would be fine after he rested and his stitches were taken out.
Kanai left him with his friends and made her way to Hinata, "Hi," she hugged the couple, "Congratulations, I know I'm a little late though," she giggled.
"It's okay. We're just happy you two could make it," Hinata smiled, "But, I have to ask, about his dad?"
"We stopped by earlier today. He was a mess, but it's his father, who he confided in and saw as a role model. I knew he would be sad and I don't blame him," Kanai looked to her feet, "But anyways, this is supossed to be happy, so for now, let's put all the bad feelings away."
"Alright," Hinata nodded.
