He woke up the next morning....but he loved the day before. Naruto had a dream about it although his eyes opened before it finished. Hinata was smiling at him and tracing the marks on his cheeks.
"Morning, Naruto," she blinked and brought her hand back to her chest.
"Morning, Hina-chan," he grinned.
She reached out again and traced his whiskers again.
"Huh?," he lifted his upper body off the bed, "Hinata? You're face isn't red?"
Hm?," she touched her cheek with her other hand, feeling no heat, "I guess not."
Naruto sat up and her hand fell off his skin, "How'd you sleep?"
"Fine," Hinata sat up and faced him, "What about you?"
"Well," he smiled, "you were here, so I slept well."
Hinata smiled, "I'll take that as a compliment, Naruto," she giggled a little.
Uzumaki hugged her, then remembered she was an Uzumaki now, "I love you Hina-chan."
"I love you too," she snaked her arms around his neck."Shika!," Kanai skipped into their shared room, "how do you feel today?"
He leaned his head against the wall, "Better than yesterday."
She moved over to him and carefully laid next to him, resting her head on his chest. He still had a scar from his first near-death experience, but she was on the other side of him.
"Yesterday was fun," she smiled and closed her eyes.
"It was," he looked down at her, "Just don't ask me to do it."
"Why not?!," she whined, "What if really wanted to marry you? What then?"
"I wouldn't do it," he answered simply.
"Why?," she put her left hand against the matress and pushed herself up.
"It'd be a drag to get dressed up."
"That's what concerns you?," she opened her eyes and looked up at him. He was still smiling.
"Not always. I'll admit I got worried when you left," he reached over and tucked her hair behind her ear.
"Shika," kanai placed her hand over his heart, "I'm sorry I did this to you and.....to-"
"You didn't do it to me," he pulled her forward to rest his forehead against hers.
Kanai clenched her fist against his skin, "But they're after me. I'm luring them here."
He couldn't argue with that. When you got right down to it, she was the whole reason the people kept coming here.
"If you want me to leave I will. If it'll keep you safe.....and the village-"
"No thanks," he moved away from her. Her eyes widened and she stared at him.
"What?"
"It would be a drag not having somehere to entertain me all day," he looked back to her and slightly smirked.
"Shika," Kanai lightly wrapped her arms around his body, hugging him. He draped his arm over her and leaned down to kiss the top of her head. The saddening sound of a crying child troubled its parents, making them believe they were horrible people.
"What's wrong Kiri?," Ruma sighed.
"Did you try feeding her?," Kiba came to stand behind her.
"Of course I did!," she shot him an evil look, "That was the first thing I tried. She doesn't need to be changed either. She doesn't want to go sleep. Why don't you work your magic?," she turned to him.
"Okay," Kiba grinned, "Come here," he took Kiri and went to sit down with her.
Ruma sat across the room from them, watching and trying to learn, but no matter how hard she tried, Kiri loved Kiba more. After a few seconds, the cries turned to sobbing hiccups.
He took his index finger and let his daughter grab hold of it with her tiny palms.
"Are you gonna say something?," he asked her with a smile, "Or are you just gonna cry over it?"
"Un," she sounded slightly.
"Un?," he questioned, "Remember what I told you?," he waited for her eyes to fall back on him, "Crying in the dirt gets you nowhere. You have to stand up for your beliefs."
"Kiba," Ruma moved to sit in the floor in front of his knees, "It's a nice message, but she's still just a baby."
"No, Kiri's not," he smiled at his creation, "She's our baby. Our little monster."
Ruma touched the small brown curl that hung down on to her daughter's forehead. It was soft, "So she's ours? Not just daddy's little princess?"
"She's mommy's competition," he shrugged and smiled.
"Kiba!," Ruma smacked him lightly and smiled.
He chuckled, "What?"
Ruma looked down to the small human in his lap, "She fell asleep," she smiled."Lady Hokage," an ANBU member landed at her feet, "The threat has been spotted 107 km north from the village."
"They're that close!?," she turned around, "Why are you here?! Go! Deal with them! Do not let them inside the walls!"
The ANBU unit vanished from her sights, following orders, as Shizune sat her animal down, "Tsunade-sama. We need to get Otazowa to an enclosed location."
"I've stationed troops around the Nara households. If they target Kanai herself, they'll have at least twenty ninja against them," Tsunade moved over to the window, "Kakashi!"
"Yes Lady Tsunade?," he turned his head to see her from his position outside the window.
"Head to the Nara's. Keep all the residents calm and safe."
"Alright," he closed his book, "But I'm not qualified with healthcare."
"I'll send Sakura over in case you need her," Tsunade pointed in the direction of the house, "Now go,"
"Yeah yeah," he jumped over to the next roof.
