Chapter Seven

Mac's POV

"Derek what the hell is going on?" I asked hoarsely. He just looked around the shadows, ignoring my question. This angered me. I was just choked by an unknown entity, then Derek has a morphed dog shaped face. I'm freaking out, "Derek!" I snapped. He looked at me and his features softened.

"Mac, I'm gonna need you to calm down." Derek said to me. I put my hand on the ground to help myself stand up so I can yell at him. My hand landed in some gooey stuff though.

"What the hell?" I said, then my body started getting numb. I collapsed back down to the ground, paralyzed. Tears ran down my face as I panicked more.

"Shh, Mac. Its gonna be okay. I promise." Derek said. He picked me up in his arms. "I know how it feels, but it's only gonna last 15 minutes max. I'm gonna take you back to my place until then."

"So this is what you've been dealing with since you stopped visiting?" I asked him. He gave a laugh.

"Yeah, something like that." Derek said with a smile. I smiled back, even though I still couldn't feel my body. We arrived at his Camaro. He balanced me with one arm and opened the door. He placed me in and strapped me in.

"Make sure you tell me about it, if it's anything like this fun." I said with sarcasm dripping off my tongue as he climbed in the driver side.

"Oh yeah, all types of fun." Derek said and sped off. We drive past my broken down car and toward the city. He glanced at me and his face changed back to anger, "Change of plans."

"What do you mean change of plans?" I asked finally starting to get feeling back in my fingers. He pulled up to a fence, a tall one at that. It had to be about 10 feet tall, if not more.

"I'm going after the bastard." He said getting out the car, "You stay here, I'll be back." Derek turned to me before transforming into his earlier face. His glowing red eyes pierced my soul. He turned around and practically jumped over the fence.

"Really, Derek?" I yelled out. What if the thing comes back? What if he wants to finish the job? I'm defenseless. I can only move my fingers right now. Oh, I'm gonna kill Derek if I get killed.

"Okay Mac, it's gonna be fine." I whispered to myself. I finally felt the feeling in my body come back. I tapped my fingers against the armrest. The door suddenly opened, making me jump outta my seat.

"God damn it Derek!" I yell angrily. He just gave me a look and started the car. He started driving somewhere, no clue where though. We pulled up an abandoned train depot.

"This is where I'm staying at the moment." Derek said. He climbed out the car and I followed. When he walked in three people rushed up to us. Isaac, Erica, and some dude whose name I didn't know. They looked at Derek and I in confusion.

"What the hell is she doing here?" Erica asked.

"I don't think that's any of your concern." I replied with a glare. She glared back and growled at me stepping forward. I stepped forward too. Her eyes flashed yellow, but it didn't phase me.

"That's enough." Derek said. He grabbed my hand and pulled me into a room that was probably a kitchen. I sat on the counter and looked at him. He pulled out a first aid kit. When he took off his jacket, I seen a bullet wound.

"Woah, what happened?" I asked hopping off the counter and walking up to him. I touched his arm and looked at the wound closely.

"It's nothing. I just gotta get the bullet out and I'll heal." He said, reaching for the kit. I pulled it away and opened it.

"Let me do it." I said, getting out done tweezers and gauze.

"You don't need to. I got this." He said. I grabbed his good arm and dragged him back toward the counter. I sat back on it.

"Der, remember all the times you cleaned me up after one of my mom's rampages?" I asked him looking in his eyes. He nodded quickly, "Let me repay the favor."

He sighed in defeat. I took the tweezers and inserted them into the wound. I felt around until I felt it. I pulled the bullet from his arm and put gauze over it.

"Now you ready to tell me what the hell is going on?" I asked him. He sighed and went through this long explanation about him being a werewolf and the Kanima. I sat there in shock. I listened to how he turned Isaac, Erica, and Boyd and the problem with this Kanima creature.

"And how the hell does Scott fit into this?" I asked him.

"Oh yes. You're stupid half-brother." Derek said laughing. I just rolled my eyes, "He's a werewolf." Of course he is.

"What about Stiles?" I asked, shivering a little from the cold.

"Are you cold?" He asked me, from his spot next to me on the counter.

"Just a little." I said. He took off his leather jacket and put it on me. I smiled a thanks up to him.

"But Stiles, no that pesky little brat isn't anything but human and annoying." Derek said with a scowl, making me laugh. I looked at the time on the plugged in microwave. It was about midnight.

"Oh god it's late. Can you take me home?" I asked him. He nodded and led me to the door. The three teen wolves were sitting down talking. The conversation stopped when we walked in the room. We walked past them, Erica and I sharing a glare.

When Derek and I pulled up to my house, all the lights were off. It was clearly empty. I sighed and turned to Derek.

"Thanks again, for everything Der." I said and he smiled at me. The genuine smile I have been getting all night, that I love seeing so much, "By the way, I'm wearing your jacket to school tomorrow. I'll give it to one of your minions to give it back."

"Don't worry about it. Keep it, I have another." He said. I smiled and walked up to the house. I unlocked the door and turned and waved to Derek. I watched as he took off down the road.
