Chapter Forty One
Mac's POV
After school was over, I made my way back to the Stilinksi residence. Alison dropped me off, after promising to meet up with me later for some more training. I was in my new room unpacking when I came across Derek's jacket. I grabbed it and sat on the bed. I held it to my chest.
I sighed deeply, because I know Team Merek is coming to an end. Though I love Derek, even if it took me forever to come to that conclusion, I'm not gonna stay stuck on someone who doesn't want me. I'm not going to force myself on someone who thinks I'm a hindrance. I dealt with that enough with my mother and will not subjugate myself to that again. That is sadly why I can't keep the fairly comfy leather jacket in my hands. I had to wait until Stiles arrived back at the house for a ride, but I needed to give it back. I needed to get rid of it, if it was actually over.
The doorbell rang, pulling me out of my sad thoughts. I quickly rushed to the door to see a man in a red Toyota shirt and khaki pants. He must be looking for Sheriff S.
"Is there a Mackinzy McCall at this residence?" The man asked. I looked at him confused.
"Yeah, I'm her." I said cautiously. Why are Toyota people at the door looking for me?
"Okay, great." The man said, and handed me an envelope. I grabbed it and slowly opened it. The man's smiling face, freaking me out. What the hell is going on? I pulled a small note out of the envelope.
'Mackinzy,
We feel so bad about just abandoning you, so we hope this will ease any pain from the situation. We know the last car is broken down and no longer working. Now you have transportation again. The car is paid for, by money from selling the house. We also put insurance on the car for you, that we will be paying for. Again, we're sorry. We hope you can forgive us.
Your Loving Grandparent
"Well I'll be damned." I mumbled to myself. The man stood there, still smiling. I guess he enjoys giving surprise cars. I walked outside to see a Toyota 4Runner. Not that I knew what that was or meant, I just walked to the back of the car and to said it. I was shocked. I didn't even realize the sold the house, but sure enough they did. The 'For Sale' words were now covered with a big 'Sold' sticker. Out of all the things they could've spent money on, they bought we a car out of guilt. I was thankful for that. It was like it was a sign to go give Derek his jacket back now, not that I actually wanted to.
After dealing with some paperwork and getting the keys, I was on my way. Though I was slightly mesmerized by my new car, I was still thinking about this in the back of my mind. I have not seen or talked to Derek since the night in the school boiler room. I'm nervous. How is he going to react to seeing me? How am I going to react to seeing him?
