Chapter Twenty Six
Mac's POV
All I heard was screaming, my own was included. Stiles decided to be some type of badass and we are currently speeding toward the wall of a warehouse. Why the hell does Beacon have so many of these? We crashed through the wall and into a kanima formed Jackson.
"Did I hit him?" Stiles asked as we came to an abrupt stop. I chuckled but then let out a small scream simultaneously to Lydia when Jackson jumped on the hood of the car. Stiles screamed and we all got out of the car on Lydia's side. Stiles took off toward Scott, but the first thing I noticed was Derek on the ground, looking like a hurt puppy.
"Are you okay?" I asked him and he gave me a quick nod. We all watched as Lydia talked to Jackson. He pulled back his arm like he was about to slice and dice her but stopped when he noticed the key she was holding. I watched in shock as he slowly turned from kanima to human Jackson. He was only half human but it was better than full on lizard. He slowly started backing away from Lydia. I heard movement and noticed Derek getting up from the ground.
"What are you doing?" I whispered. He ignored me and I watched his Alpha eyes come on. I didn't know what he was doing but I know it wasn't anything good accepting his fate, All of a sudden Peter ran out of the shadows. "Derek, no!" I yelled but it was too late. His claws were already in the boy. Derek walked back toward me and Isaac, with a sad expression on his face. He puts his hand on Isaac's shoulder, pulling him away. He then grabbed my hand. We slowly turned as Lydia ran to Jackson and helped him to the ground. I could hear them whispering and her sniffles. My heart ached for her pain. It was so sad. We heard scraping and instantly turned to see the what we thought was dead Jackson, slowly moving. I moved back a few steps in fear and Derek instantly used his body to block mines from Jackson.
We watched as Jackson slowly stood in all his naked glory and howled at the ceiling. His eyes were glowing blue. By the shock on everyone's face, it was fair to assume he was a werewolf. Lydia instantly launched herself at him. I watched as Stiles' face dropped even more. I know I shouldn't be thinking this, but I can't continue to let myself feel for a guy in love with someone else. This right here is the moment where I choose Derek.
"Let's go." Derek said to Isaac and I. We nodded and started heading toward the door.
"Mac, wait? Where -?" Stiles started but I cut him off.
"I'll talk to you later." I said and pulled in Derek's hand. He nodded and kept walking. We stopped again, Derek turned and looked at Jackson.
"Come by my house tomorrow. We need to teach you to control yourself, so you don't kill anyone." Derek said.
"Else." I said completing the thought. Everyone looked at me. I just shrugged. "It's the truth and you know you were all thinking it."
Derek just rolled his eyes and walked ahead of Isaac and I.
"So, the two of you?" Isaac asked, probably referring to Derek and I's earlier hand holding.
"Team Merek is a go." I whispered to him, looking at Derek's back. Isaac did a fist bump and gave me a big smile.
"Officially?" He asked.
"There's only one problem." I said, "We just have to get Derek on the Merek train. Trust me when I say it's gonna take some convincing."
"I guess we'll just have to show him how awesome you are." Isaac said with a smile.
"Oh, that he already knows." I said with a smirk.
"Will you two get in already?" Derek said to Isaac and I. We smiled at each other and climbed in the car.
