Chapter Thirteen
Derek's POV
I'm getting sick and tired about this damn Kanima. He's disrupting everything. I don't feel safe, because it can kill me if its master wanted. I did kill Peter.
We were discussing ways to stop it, but I was secretly watching Mac. She must have been hot, because she took off the leather jacket. Her tank top have plenty of cleavage viewing. I seem it when she had on the jacket but the she was more exposed without it. She was really attractive. I watched as she fanned herself. A trickle of sweat rolled down her smooth skin into her shirt. I had to take a couple of calming breaths, seeing as my heartbeat shot up. She was gorgeous. She made me feel things I never thought I would. Not after Kate and the fire.
"Doc, got some water?" She asked. When she turned to walk away, I froze. There was a huge scar on her back and I know exactly where it came from.
"Derek?" Isaac said as I let out a growl. I just ignored him. I could feel anger coursing through my veins. My guess was everyone seen the scar, because I could practically feel the shock coming from them.
"What?" Mac asked when she came back in the room. We were all staring at her. I tried to control myself as I walked her to her. I grabbed her by the waist and turned her back toward me. I ran my eyes over it.
"Did she do this?" I asked her. Mac nodded and my anger welled over. I was seeing red.
"I'm gonna kill her!" I growled out and headed to my car. I ignored Mac who was calling for me, trying to stop me.
"Derek! Wait! You can't!" She yelled as I got to my car.
"And why the hell not!" I yelled at her through my canines.
"Cause she's already dead!" She yelled back. I felt my face fading back to human. I was confused and shocked. That's why. That's why the kanima keeps trying to kill her.
"Mackinzy?" Scott asked, walking outside. His face was full of confusion and anger. She just looked down at her shoes. I could see her trying her hardest to hold sobs in. The way she was taking deep breaths. Doc gave Mac her jacket out of the clinic. She just nodded her head and took the jacket. It was completely quiet between the four of us. Well, other than the breathing coming from all of us.
"Scott, lock up will you. I'm going to drive Mackinzy home." The doc said walking out of the building. He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and led her away.
"Who the hell is 'she'?"Scott asked as soon as they were out of our view. I sighed.
"It's not my story to tell." I replied. He got mad and slammed me into my car. I held my hand up to stop Isaac from trying anything to defend me.
"Well you better tell me something!" He yelled. "Like how you know her! She's lived in Washington all her life!"
"I stayed in Washington after the fire." I replied, not stating specifically how we met. He glared at me and let me go. "Look, if she wants to tell you then she will. All I know is we need to keep the Kanima far away from her." I said getting in my car. I waited for Isaac to climb in and sped off.
