Chapter Forty Six
Mac's POV
"Isaac, come on. Answer your phone!" I yelled into the receiver. I was leaving him yet another voicemail. I've looked everywhere for my best friend. I was starting to get to the point of panicking. If Isaac dies too, I'm gonna freaking lose it. I already lost Derek. I can't loose Isaac too.
"Stiles?" I ask as I watch him run past me in a panic. He runs to the bus and back with flares in his hand. "Stiles? What the hell is going on?"
"Boyd drowning! Heat helps!" He yells. I follow him into Boyd and Isaac's room. Lydia looks frightened when we run in. Stiles tocuhes her shoulder shocking her.
"I got em." He says and looks at the flares. "What do I do? How do I do this?"
"Te cap, it's like a match." Lydia stumbles out. Stiles takes off the cap and tried to light it. He can't get it lit, I look over to Boyd who is drowning and slowly dying. No, I'm not losing another pack member. I can do this. I knock the cap out of his hand.
"Mac!" Stiles yells in a panic. I ignore him and put my hand on the top of the match. I close my eye and focus on lighting my hand on fire. I felt power rush through me to my hand. Just like that, the match is lit. Stiles rushes into the bathroom.
"I couldn't find Isaac." I tell Lydia as we watch Boyd chuck the huge safe off of himself. Boyd was in his werewolf form, I grabbed Stiles' arm and pull him back. We look at Boyd in fear, but soon calmed when we realize he was in as much shock as Ethan.
"Isaac is under the bed." Lydia said looking at one of the beds. I looked at it confused. I walked in here earlier, It thought the room was empty. I saw neither Boyd or Isaac. Stiles grabbed the other flare and looked at me. I put my hand over it, and lit the flare. Stiles went over to the bed and lifted up the sheet.
"Hey Isaac, got something here for ya." Stiles said and put the flare under the bed. We all backed up and watched Isaac crawl from under the bed.
"What the hell is going on?" Isaac asked. We quickly explained to Boyd and Isaac the situation. They sat there still struggling with the situation.
"Guys, we have to go tell Alison." Lydia pointed out. Alison didn't yet know that heat helped the wolves snap out of their suicidal state. Stiles and Lydia headed to the door but stopped when they didn't see me following.
"Mac, come on." Stiles said but I looked at Isaac. He looked so vulnerable, and I didn't wanna leave him. He looked up at me.
"Mac, go. I'll be alright." Isaac said.
"Are you sure?" I asked. I wanted to help my brother, but I couldn't leave my best friend.
"Yes. Go help Scott." He said. I started walking toward the door, but looked back at Isaac one more time. He nodded reassuringly. I sighed and followed my two companions out of the room. We headed toward Stiles and Scott's room. Alison was coming out of the room when we got there. We explained what happened with the other two wolves.
"I can't find Scott anywhere." Alison said walking down the stairs, we followed behind her. Where the hell could Scott be? I hope we weren't too late.
"It's happening to him too, isn't it?" Stiles asked.
"Probably." I said.
"It has to be," Lydia stated, "Didn't you say there was another flare on the bus?"
"Yeah, I'll get it." Stiles said. As soon as we got off the stairs and tunred toward the bus, we stopped in shock. Scott stood in a puddle of some liquid, also dripping wet. We slowly walked to him and noticed he was holding the last flare in his hand. It was already lit.
"Scott." Alison said, walking toward him. We all walked slowly up to him, walking around the puddle, which smelt a lot like gasoline. Alison called out to him again. My suspicions were confirmed when I noticed a big red gasoline bottle laying empty on the ground. I took a few steps back. I am basically a big ball of flame. I can't control it either. I didn't wanna accidentally set flame to this already messed up situation. We stared at him in shock and fear.
"Scott, what are you doing?" I asked quietly.
"There's no hope." He responded. I felt my eyes watering.
"What do you mean, Scott?"Alison asked. "There's always hope."
"Not for me." He said, looking out into space.
"If there's hope for me, out of all people. There is hope for you. There's hope for anybody." I said softly.
"Not for Derek." He pointed out, effectively shutting me up.
"Derek wasn't your fault. You know Derek wasn't your fault." Alison reminded him.
"Every time I try to fight back, it gets worse. People keep getting hurt. People keep getting killed." Scott said, looking down.
"Scott, listen to me okay? This isn't you, all right?" Stiles says walking forward. "This is someone inside your head telling you to so this. Okay? Now-"
"What if it isn't?" Scott says, cutting Stiles off. "What if it is just me? What if doing this is actually the best thing I could do for everyone else? It all started that night. The night I got bitten. You remember the way it was before that? You and me, we were... We were, we were nothing. We weren't popular. We weren't good at lacrosse. We weren't important. We were no one. Maybe I should just be no one again." Scott finally looked up at us. He locked eyes with Stiles. "No one at all."
He moved the flare, like he was ready to drop it. Stiles started walking toward him slowly again, "Scott, just listen to me, okay? You're not no one. Okay? You're someone, you're. Scott, you're my best friend. Okay? And I need you. Scott, you're my brother. All right, so..." Stiles looked down and stepped into the puddle.
"Stiles, no." I whispered. Lydia grabbed onto my hand and squeezed. I brought the other one up to cover my mouth.
"So if you're gonna do this, then I think you're just gonna have to take me with you. All right?"Stiles said, walking up to Scott and holding onto the flare with him. I shook my head. This can not be happening. Stiles pulled the flare out of Scott's hand and threw it away from the puddle.
"No!" Lydia yelled and I saw the puddle started to light up. My four friends dived to the ground on the other side of the puddle. I ran up to them and put my back to the flame, trying to block the fire from hurting my friends. I could feel the flames burning at the back of my clothes but not hurting my skin. Lydia looked back toward me, but past me at the flames. Her face was of shock and fear. The fire died down and I dropped to my knees.
"Mac!" Stiles yelled and ran up to me.
"I'm okay." I said, and he helped me to my feet. "We're all okay."

"I don't wanna know." I heard someone said and I opened my eyes to see Coach climbing on the bus. "I really don't wanna know. In case you missed the announcement, the meet's cancelled. Pack it in!"
I lifted my head off of Isaac's shoulder and stretched. After everything that happened last night, we all decided that the hotel made us uncomfortable. Stiles suggested we sleep on the bus, which we all agreed to. I watched as Ethan went and sat by Stiles. Boys, Isaac, and I shared confused looks. I couldn't hear then from out spot at the back of the bus.
"What is he saying?" I asked my friends with the advanced hearing.
"Derek is still alive." Isaac said with a smile. I cold feel my cheeks started to hurt, because I smiled so big when I heard that.
"Either he has to kill us and join them, or they kill him." Boyd said. That made the smile slowly leave me face. What kind of messed up stuff is that? Though Derek is alive. He's alive.
I could feel the smile coming back to my face. He's alive.
