Chapter Twenty Three
Mac's POV
"What the hell do you mean you're leaving?" I yelled at Isaac. I was leaving the house to head to the game and he was sitting on my front porch. He spat out he was leaving when I questioned why he was there.
"With Boyd and Erica." He said. "When I leave here."
"Why?" I asked, tears filling my eyes.
"Because, I have no reason to stay. There is nothing left for me. No one needs me to protect them here." He said looking up at the sky.
"What about Derek?" I asked him. Derek was their Alpha. They can't just abandon him.
"He'll be fine. He can make more pack members if he really needs to." Isaac said.
"What about me?" I asked him loudly. Isaac understands me more than anyone ever has in all my life. He just gets me.
"You'll be fine." Isaac said, pulling me in for a hug. I squeezed him tightly. We pulled away and sat on the stairs to my porch.
"But we're Abuse Buddies." I whispered to him. He chuckled slightly.
"Didn't I ask you not to call us that?" Isaac said with a chuckle. I started calling us that after we both shared some of our abuse stories. He hated it but I think it had a ring to it.
"But you're breaking the number one rule of the Buddy System Code: Never leave your buddy." I said, and he just sighed.
"Seriously Mac. I'll miss you, but I gotta do this for me." He said and I nodded. I understood, but I still didn't want him to go. He gave me a slight smile and headed down the street. I sighed. I don't wanna go to the game anymore. I'll go see Derek. I know it's gotta be hard on him to lose his pack. I called a taxi and got a ride to his old house. Since the Argents know where they were staying, they had to move.
When I walked in the front door, there was blood on the floor. It wasn't a lot, but I could tell what it was. I rushed into the other room to see Derek sitting and staring off in space. He had a cup of alcohol in his hand. He barely spared me a glance as he took a large gulp.
"Der, you okay?" I asked him. He just downed the rest of his drink and filled it up with more. He was drinking a brown liquor. I sighed and walked up to him. I knew werewolves couldn't get drunk. I remember being told that. "Derek talk to me."
He just looked at me and I sighed again. He was hurting so much and there wasn't anything I could do to make it better. He had a hard expression on his face, but I could see it in his eyes. I just pulled him into a hug. I wrapped my arms around his torso. He stiffened slightly, but I could feel his resolve breaking. He slowly wrapped his arms around me, holding me close I pulled back and looked at his face.
"Wanna talk about it?" I asked him.
"I'm such a failure." He said sadly.
"No, you're not." I said to him. I put my hand on his cheeks and looked him in the eye. "You're not a failure. You're the Alpha of bipolar teenagers. They will come back. I might not be as good as a beta but you know I'm on your team 100%, right?"
"Thank you so much, Mac." Derek said, "You always know just what to say. That's one of the things I love about you. You always make me feel better. I'm glad your around." Derek said, making me blush. One of the things he loved about me? There are a lot of things I love about him. Like his eyes. His muscles. His loving personality.
"I'm glad I'm around too." I said. I bit my lip and looked to his. They looked really kissable right now. I looked back up at his eyes and noticed how the green looked darker. I moved my face closer to his. I really really wanted this kiss. He shut his eyes and I shut mine. Our lips brushed and all I felt were sparks. Just when I was about to press forward more, an unknown voice spoke.
"Derek, why didn't you tell me we had company?" I turned around and glared at the stranger. Derek growled at him. The guy smirked. I wanted to punch that smirk off his face. He ruined my moment with Derek. "Ah, so this is the beautiful girlfriend that I've hear so much about."
"We are not dating." Derek said in an angry tone. I know we weren't, but the way he said it. It kind of hurt. It's like he was ashamed or embarrassed. Maybe I'm thinking too hard on this. I know I'm thinking too hard on this. I can't help it. Maybe he didn't feel the sparks. I've never been in a relationship. Hell, I've never been kissed. The thought of having a boyfriend, especially him being Derek, makes my heart soar.
"Hi, I'm Peter Hale. Derek's used to be dead uncle." The guy said holding out his hand. I just looked at it. Hell no. I've heard about him. This psychotic murderer. He pulled his hand back by his side, "Another unwarm welcome."
"I'm gonna go." I said and walked out of the house. I hoped Derek would come and run after me, but he didn't. I walked to the main road and called for a taxi. It was dark and I was near the woods. Wow, I didn't think this thru. I swear to God, if Jackson comes and attacks me again, I shall be royally pissed. Just then I heard a noise. I held my breath trying to listen for another one. Oh god, did I just jinx myself? I heard another noise from behind me, but when I went to turn something hit me on my head and everything went black.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Small Merek action, but of course Peter had to ruin it. Stupid constipated Hale. They almost kissed! I bet it would've been glorious.
