Your eyes closed as the bell rang shrilly and the thundering pounding of your students fleeing for freedom faded. The full moon had been harder to deal with than Scott or Stiles had let on.
Your body felt heavy and groggy. Like wading through water. With your head in your hands, you leant on your desk. "Isn't it your lunch break?" Derek asked.
Looking up you saw him in the doorway and sighed. "Kind of wishing it was the final bell." You grumbled and put your head back down.
"You'll get used to it. The more your physical body improves that the easier it will be when it comes to maintaining your composure." He explained. You nodded as he prodded into your classroom. He smiled as he looked around. You followed his gaze and realised that now, with your enhanced sight you could see dents and what looked like claw marks.
"One time Peter and Laura had a fight in here during detention." He explained. He didn't say anything else and cleared his throat, turning back at you. "Peter said that you did ok, last night. I just wanted to check in."
"Oh yeah. I'm good. I can now hear everything going on in this school, more supernatural creatures than I thought. Also I can smell everything. The cafeteria..."
"Revolting right?" He asked and chuckled when you nodded.
"Yeah. I'm pretty sure one of the lockers has something rotting in it." You muttered. He glanced around and headed over to your desk, leaning against it. There was a long pause in conversation. You weren't sure what to say to him. He seemed either content with silence or preoccupied with thought.
The next bell rang and Derek got to his feet. "If you're doing ok, I'll go. No need to hang around." He said. You smiled and nodded.
"Thank you. For helping. And for asking Peter to help. Stiles has been so worried." You said quickly. He paused in the doorway and turned as if he wanted to say something. He simply nodded as your students started to file into the room and take their seats.
"Derek!" Scott said as he reached the doorway. "Is something going on?""No. Just checking in. Making sure everything went ok last night." Derek was looking at you as he spoke. His arm shot out and a second later Stiles collided with it, his feet skidding on the floor as Derek braced him.
"What's going on, why is he here, is something wrong?" Stiles asked quickly.
"Nothing is wrong, will you get into your seats?" You insisted as they boys looked at each other, then at Derek, then back at each other. Stiles shot you a dubious glare before agreeing and they hurried into the classroom.
"Call me if you need any help." Derek said as he glanced around and headed down the hall. You turned back to start teaching the class and found your brother staring at you suspiciously.********************
Stiles had been waiting around for you to finish up. School had been out for a while but he had his feet up on a desk as he tipped his chair back and was snoring, rather loudly. You finally finished up and started packing away your laptops, the files of paperwork and a few other things around your desk. The noise had Stiles snorting and he woke up.
"Did you hear that?" He asked.
"Oh! Sorry, I must be banging around too loud. Ready to go?" You asked him. He frowned and started at the door for a few moments. When nothing happened he nodded and hurried to help you with your bags. While walking through the halls to the doors you paused. "Wait... I think I did hear something."
Stiles stopped and turned around, neither of you could see anything suspicious. "You're sure?"
"Maybe it's just the pipes. I'm still not used to the hearing."
"Scott never mentioned it when he first adjusted. But then I guess that he was too busy with everything else going on." Stiles muttered. He waited for you as he watched you try to focus.
"I can't focus on just one sound. But I can't hear it anymore. Just the usual sounds." you muttered.
"We should just get home." Stiles said quickly. He didn't want to point out the school's track record when it came to the supernatural. Hurrying out to put your things into your car. Stiles stayed with you and waited. As you slammed the back door you turned and noticed that Stiles hadn't gone to the jeep.
"Stiles?""(Y/N)." His voice was strained and when you went round the car you realised that there was a tiny glowing red dot on his chest.
"I can probably throw you over the car... maybe... You can get in and we might get away." You whispered to him.
"That won't work. It's probably not a bullet... not a normal one it's probably like just a... wolfsbane one." He hissed back. You could hear people talking from somewhere. You still couldn't pinpoint where. The hiss of a walkie-talkie made you wince. Then there was a low growl. Several in fact. You could hear fighting breaking out and the sound drew you forward, Stiles tried to grab your arm but lost his grip. He followed you, you could hear it but found yourself distracted by Derek, eyes blazing red and fangs bared as he, Scott and a few other wolves, chased off several hunters.
"Get Stiles out of here!" Derek growled at you. He shoved Scott your way too and you found Derek and, what you thought was Peter had started running after the hunters when you glanced back.
"Get into the cars." You shouted. Some crammed into the back of your car while some rushed into Stiles'. You started following him as he rushed through the streets and towards the sheriff station. At one point, the boy you recognised as Liam when he shifted back, shrieked at you to pull over and his friend Mason clambered into the back with him. The rest of the way was rather uneventful. Which you found yourself grateful for. Stiles hugged you once you'd climbed out of the car and everyone had rushed inside.
