Derek glanced away from the tree before him and to you. Scott had arrived minutes earlier with you wrapped in a hospital blanket. Something had broken into your house and attacked you. The hospital had said you were safe to go home but Scott wanted to find who it had been and insisted that you didn't stay at home.

Derek had attempted to lighten the mood by setting out a small christmas tree that lit up when it was plugged in. He didn't realise that it was quite so small and it was dwarfed by the enormity of the room.

"So... what would you like to do today?" Derek asked. It was now very early morning and he realised that you must have been exhausted but you didn't seem to want to sleep.

"I just want to bake cookies and watch Christmas movies all day." You said quietly. Derek nodded. He planned on heading to the store when you fell asleep but you had foiled that plan.

"I urm... I think I have a tv upstairs. Why don't we go up there?" Derek asked. You shrugged and followed him up. Derek grabbed your bags as he led the way. When you got upstairs your mouth dropped open.

"Woah. Derek, you have a whole house up here." You said.

"Did you think I just lived downstairs?" Derek asked in amusement. The upstairs of his apartment was decorated sparsely but comfortable looking. The kitchen seemed new and you could see a few rooms down a well lit hallway. Comfortable rugs covered glossy laminate flooring. You watched as Derek left to go into one of the rooms and came back with a TV. You sat on a large sofa as he plugged in the tv and set everything up. You watched movies until you fell asleep and Derek went to the store. He bought a variety of baking supplies, stocked up on food and called Lydia to ask what she thought you might like. He had planned on calling Stiles but rethought the idea as he could picture that trip he would have to go on to get everything that Stiles suggested. He returned just before you'd woken and put the first batch of cookies in the oven. You woke up to the smell of cookies and the sound of the tv. A Christmas cartoon was playing.

"Would you like breakfast?" Derek asked. You nodded and stretched as you yawned. "Lydia said that they're all still out looking for whatever went after you. It seems to have disappeared. But you're welcome to stay as long as you need. Scott said he'd get something from your house if you let him know what you need."

"Thanks Derek." You said quietly.

"No problem. You didn't happen to recognise anything about them?" Derek asked curiously.

"No. I didn't really get a good look but they did kind of blend in with the dark and they didn't like the light. That's how I got downstairs to Scott." You said slowly. Derek nodded.

"I'll let Scott know and see if that helps but for now lets just enjoy the holiday." Derek said quickly. He didn't want you to dwell on what had happened but the quicker that Scott caught whatever it had been, the safer you'd be.
