Everyone had been rushing around for days. You tried to be as helpful as you could. However, beyond making sure people got a few hours sleep or something to eat, you felt like you weren't helping as much as everyone else.

"I'll go into the woods and try to find the device. It shouldn't be too hard." Derek said.

"I'll go and find the book we need, Stiles could come with me." Lydia offered. Stiles agreed with her and Scott decided that he'd help them by being a look out.

"I could help Derek." Everyone went quiet and looked at you. "Well, everyone else is teaming up and wouldn't it be less suspicious if we're out walking together?"

"Yeah. It'd be better than going into the woods alone." Derek said when no one said anything. Derek smiled at you when you looked pleased that he had agreed that you should come. The two of you left and headed to the woods. Derek's shirt was still torn from a fight that he'd had earlier. It distracted you for a moment, making you think of how much had happened in just a few hours. When you stepped out of Derek's warm car you regretted not wearing a jacket. Derek must have heard you shivering as little as he went to the boot of his car. After rummaging through he found a jacket, it was too big for you and it smelled like Derek's cologne but you didn't care. It was warm. He found a torch for you as well. It wasn't very bright but it was attached to a strap so you could strap it to your head. You followed Derek in the direction he thought you should head.

"Does it feel good?" You asked and paused as you tripped a little on a tree root. Derek's hand shot out to give you something to brace yourself against. "To be able to help everyone all the time."

"Sometimes I feel like I help too much. I wonder what Scott would do if I wasn't around to help." Derek muttered honestly. You hummed thoughtfully as if you hadn't thought of that.

"I wish I could change something about me and be more helpful." you muttered. You said it in a way that Derek knew you didn't really mean that you wanted to change, at least not into some kind of creature. Just that you felt like you didn't help. Which was ridiculous. There was nothing quite as comforting as stumbling into your home and being fed, forced to drink a cup of water if you couldn't say the last time you had a drink. Then given a blanket and allowed to fall asleep safely.

"To me, you are perfect." Derek said as he glanced at you. He still had a hold of your hand. Making sure that you wouldn't trip again. You smiled and glanced at him. The two of you shared an awkward moment and laughed it off. You leaned closer to Derek as the two of you searched for the marks Derrek had seen during the day that he planned on following.
