You sniffled to yourself as you say down. Stiles and Scott had ditched you in the woods, promising they'd come and find you. To save them losing you, you'd stayed put. But now it was getting so dark that softly swaying branches looked menacing as the wind brushed through them.

"Why are you alone in the woods crying?" A voice said suddenly. You jumped and looked around. You could vaguely make out glowing eyes but it could have been a trick of the dimming light.

"I AM NOT CRYING, OK?! I'M ALLERGIC TO JERKS!!" You snapped and wiped your eyes. Derek stepped out of the shadows, his eyes dimming as he came closer.

"You shouldn't be out here alone."

"Well I wasn't!" You huffed and sniffed once more, trying to hide that you'd been crying, not knowing if you should try to find the road or wait for Scott and Stiles. "Stiles promised he'd be back with Scott before dark."
"Well, Isaac said they were going to the Lacrosse game tonight." Derek frowned when you glanced at him and looked upset.

"So they just left me here!"

"Come on, I can take you back." Derek sighed and reached out to take your arm when he realised by the time he led you to the road at least, it'd be too dark for you to see. After several minutes of silent walking Derek found the path that led to the main road. Something howling and several nasty sounding fights made you jump, tighten your grip on his arm and move closer. "I can take you back to your house."

Derek walked with you, not removing your nervous grip on his arm even when you reached the street lit roads. He stopped at the bottom of your drive and glanced around. "Thanks, Derek." You said quietly as you looked at your house and then at him."

"Why were you guys out that far?"

"Looking for evidence, to see what was attacking people." You admitted and Derek understood why you'd clung to him for dear life.

"Next time let me know. I'll stick around." He assured you with a smile.
