"Is (Y/N) not with you?" Derek asked as Stiles and Scott hurried inside Derek's apartment.

"No. They went to get lunch with someone." Scott answered as he hurried over to empty his bag of the thing Deaton had given him onto Derek's metal table. Derek nodded and tried not to think anything of it. You'd told him that you planned on finding Scott and Stiles at Deaton's and giving them a lift across town to him as you needed to talk to Deaton anyway and planned on passing by.

He hadn't thought anything more of it until Stiles mentioned that you'd driven past him and parked outside a diner in town as he drove to pick up Scott. He described the person he'd seen at the table with you to Derek whose Derek's stomach twisted uncomfortably. He knew who you were meeting. An Alpha that Derek didn't get along with. You didn't think much of his weather so why you hadn't told Derek you were meeting with him was beyond him.

He tried his best to pay attention to the maps and books laid out on the table in front of him and when Scott and Stiles had to leave he promised to continue going over what Deaton had found. However, as soon as they left, he slumped down on the satiny blue sofa and closed his eyes, feeling limp and defeated.

"Derek?" You called out. It had been a few hours and Derek had now crammed himself onto the sofa lengthways, laying on his side, feeling rather comforted in being curled up as he tried desperately to read one of Deaton's books and not let his mind picture why you weren't home yet. Derek didn't look up. He tried to focus on the scent that was with you and the sound of our footsteps. You'd returned alone. He only looked up when you headed over, dumped your back next to the sofa and poked his shoulder. "They can't have tired you out that much?" You smiled when he looked up at you.

"You didn't go and see Deaton." He said. He winced a little. He'd wanted to wait for you to tell him what had happened. He didn't like feeling suspicious of you.

"Ah. Stiles blabbed, huh?" You said as he moved to let you sit down. He watched you kick off your shoes and cross your legs as you leaned into the sofa. "You know that werewolf that used to follow us around when we were younger?"

"The one that Peter chased off or the one that Cora beat up?" He asked and you smiled.

"The second one." You answered and he nodded.

"I remember them." He muttered and smiled as he thought about Cora chasing him off and having to be picked up and carried away when he still persisted in pestering the three of you.

"Well. He's an alpha now." You muttered and looked at him. His eyebrows raised and he nodded to you, only to show he was listening and to try and hide that he was worried you might be considering moving to another pack.

"What did he want?" He asked.

"He wants me to be the queen of his pack and help run you and Peter out of town." You said and pulled a face as if you greatly disliked what the alpha had proposed.

"You said no?" Derek asked quickly and you rolled your eyes at him.

"It was always you, through everything it was always you Derek." You said and he smiled as you rested your head on his shoulder. "I didn't actually say no. I may have implied if he came near us again I would hit him with my car." you smiled as Derek chuckled and relaxed underneath you as you leaned deeper into him, letting him put an arm around your shoulders.
