December event

Derek sighed as he looked at the clock. He'd arranged to meet you just outside the mall so that you could go on a last shopping trip as you had insisted that you needed to get more for the holiday.

He had firmly disagreed saying that the tree had so many gifts under it that they were piled in a makeshift wall around it. The walls were so covered in lights that the apartment had a faint glow if you stood outside and looked at the windows. However, you had insisted and Derek wasn't one to not let you have things your way. Derek got out of the car as he saw you waddling over. You had so many bags in each hand that it was a wonder you could take a step without being weighed, flat to the ground.

"Got everything that you needed?" He asked you. You nodded and let him take some of the bags. Slowly everything was loaded into the boot. Then into the back when that filled up rather quickly. It was starting to get dark and a little cold so you hurried into the front. Derek turned the heating on as he pulled out of the mall car park.

"I got almost everything but I will have to do a little DIY. I tried to find us matching baubles. I found one that looks a bit like me but this was the only one I found that looked like you. Bit of paint and I can get it looking right." You held up a bauble as he stopped at a traffic light. Glancing at you he looked back at the road and then glanced at you again.

"Is that a Superman bauble?" He asked, sounding halfway between surprised and amused.

"Yes. It was the only one that was the right shape. Plus all I need to do is give it a beard and a top. Maybe some trousers." You said quickly. Derek chuckled as he turned down the road towards your apartment.

"Just a little touch-up?" He teased. You rolled your eyes and shrugged.

"You can just be superman then if you have a problem with me being creative." You huffed and smiled when Derek shook his head.

"I just don't think there will be enough space on the tree given how many decorations are on it already." Derek said as he got out and started to gather all the bags out of the car.

"Oh don't worry. I'll find space. Maybe we could get a second tree!" You said eagerly. Derek shook his head and smiled as you shut the car and locked it, carefully carrying the heavy burden of your matching baubles up to the apartment.
