You smiled as Derek handed over the last present to Liam. Liam, who hadn't expected anything from Derek, grinned and started stripping the paper off the box. When he opened the box he lifted out an odd looking knife.

"Derek!" You hissed as you got up and took it from Liam who was inspecting the blade and had almost stabbed Malia in the arm without realising it.

"Why are you even worrying? The kid's just going to ignore the toy and play with the box." Derek said as you sat down next to him, putting the knife on a shelf as you passed it.

"Did that look like he was going to just play with the box?" You scolded Derek frowned.

"Well Peter thought it was a good gift." He grumbled as you as he turned his attention back to the rest of the group.

"In future maybe don't take Peter's advice if it involves giving a teenager a knife." You suggested. Derek opened his mouth to say something, from the look on his face, to object, but then the look passed and he nodded as he realized that you were right.

"Anymore gifts before I get the snacks out of the oven?" You heard someone call. The McCall living room was so covered in wrapping paper that it was almost knee high and with everyone moving around to swap gifts, hugging and thanking each other, you couldn't keep track of who was talking. Peter burst through the door and came into the room with several bags almost overflowing with more gifts. He dumped them into the pile of paper and the pack descended on them like sharks being thrown bait.

"Why don't we start clearing the paper into the recycling so that we can see the food when it's done." Derek muttered to you as you watched shredded paper flying everywhere.
