I sat at the dining room table. Beside me on my left at the head of the table was my mama and on my right was Chandra. Opposite us and on the left side of my mama was Genesis, all quiet and shit unlike how she was just a half hour ago. Travis and Jamal had shut the party down and gone to take some aunts and uncles of ours home to leave mama, ChaCha and I to get down to the bottom of this situation with Genesis - they took my nieces with them too.
Chandra wanted to be present in case anything popped off or in case Genesis got too disrespectful with myself or my mama. I know she already wants to beat the hell out of Genesis (pregnant or not) for the way she came at her earlier but she's containing herself for the time being. As for mama, she was the one who invited Genesis in so we could talk this out. Just like me she wants to know everything.
"Are you gonna sit there mute or actually talk?" ChaCha hissed.
I couldn't help the laugh that escaped my lips. Mama glared at me but I really didn't have a care in the world, I continued to laugh. She shook her head and turned her attention to Genesis.
"Is what you said true? You're pregnant with August's child?"
Genesis nodded slowly and from her purse, placed three pregnancy tests on the table. "All of them are positive and your son is the only person that I have been with in recent times. He knows this. He didn't even stick around when it was time for me to take them, instead he went off to perform his show and then be all over some random girl in a club. Not to mention letting her hit me and disrespect me when I was going there to tell him that I was pregnant."
"Bullshit." I snapped and leaned forward.
"August Anthony watch your mouth-"
"Nah mama, she's twisting the narrative to make herself look good and make me out to be the bad guy. Let me tell you what really happened since she wants to act all special. She was getting sick and even though I strap up every time, I wanted to rule out a pregnancy so I had Terrence go get some tests. When he came back she didn't want to take them and screamed at me saying that she didn't need them because she wasn't pregnant. So yeah, I left. I'm not about to wait around for someone who wants to play around with their health when I have shit to do. Then fast forward to the club, she came in there disrespectful. Couldn't have just come to me and pulled me aside? Nah, you had to prepare to jump a girl who you're just mad laid you out before you could bat an eyelash, so don't come here and try put all this on me. You did this to your damn self Genesis."
"I didn't impregnate myself!" She semi-yelled, standing from her seat. "You're such a fucking asshole August, step up to the plate and realise that you're gonna be a dad!"
That was it for me. I had to get out before I reached over and strangled the girl. I got up from my seat and stormed out the back, punching a hole in the wall on my way out - mama will definitely be on my ass about that but right now I could give two fucks. When I got out in the backyard I began to pace with my fists balled up and my nostrils flaring.
