Larissa sat down opposite me and placed her purse on the empty chair beside her. "I'm so glad you could meet me, I needed to get out of that house. Chris is driving me crazy."

"Get out of the house?" I snickered. "Girl, you flew all the way to New Orleans."

"Out of the house, out of the state, what's the difference? The man's still a pain in my ass."

"Why, what's he done this time?"

She scoffed. "I had this chocolate specially flown in from Switzerland and he ate every damn box, every box Everly!"

"Not that stuff you brought back when y'all went on that tour last year-"

"Yes that stuff!" She replied with a frown. "That's been my one and only craving and he ate every last crumb with his fat, big headed self. It wasn't enough that he missed the ultrasound last week, he just had to go there with my food. My fucking food!"

One thing about Larissa - she loves her food and she's very protective of her food. Trust and believe that she genuinely loves you if she shares some of her food with you. I can count on one hand the number of people I've seen her share with. It's definitely a Taurus thing though because Chris is exactly the same. He loves his food and doesn't share often, only really with those he loves and the kids.

"He didn't have a choice in missing that ultrasound, you know that."

"I still didn't appreciate it." She huffed.

"I knew I saw you walk in!"

My attention turned to Faye, the old woman who I'd grown close to since I fell totally in love with her restaurant last year. She used to have one here in New Orleans years back but then she moved to look after her grandchildren when her daughter got really sick. Once her daughter was better and back on her feet, she moved back here to the place she calls home and opened up her new restaurant. I had been driving past one day when I smelt something so intoxicating that I had to stop and I've never regretted stopping one bit - even with this little bit of extra weight I've gained from Ms Faye's cooking. Each plate is a slice of Heaven.

"I couldn't come into town and not stop by." I laughed, standing up and gladly hugging her. "Besides, I've been craving those ribs of yours."

Now it was her turn to laugh. "I'll run out one day with you around."

"Well you might today. Ms Faye this is my best friend Larissa, she is-"

"That light skin chocolate boy singer's girlfriend, right? Oh honey if I was forty years younger you'd have some competition for him baby."

"You can have him if you want." Larissa shrugged.

I giggled. "Don't mind her mood. She needs some good food to cheer her up."

"Say no more. I'll be back soon."

We watched Ms Faye wander off behind the walls that concealed the kitchen area. I glanced around and sighed in contentment. Had we been in Los Angeles there would be people at every window and seated at every table trying to film and take pictures of us, whereas here in New Orleans, things are so much more tame. It was madness at first but since moving here to be with my man and settling in, after a while people got used to Aug and myself always being here. So at least our children can experience somewhat of a normal life.
