"Gosh, you are growing real quick in there aren't you?" I laughed to myself as I moisturised my body.
August's tour kicked off two weeks ago and it's been weird not having him around, especially for Armani who doesn't exactly understand any of this. And although his tour is strictly staying within America, he was booked for a performance in London so that's where we'll be watching him perform tonight via live stream. My mom and August's have been nothing but spectacular during this time of adjustment. Mama Sheila's been picking up the kids after school and daycare and keeping them for an hour or two whilst I'm still at work. My mom has been bringing over food almost everyday and helps me put the kids to bed since August normally would. Then she makes me go have some 'me time' and cleans up whatever I haven't before she retreats back to her own house. I don't know what I'd nothing without them. Two kids would be manageable alone but five? That's a whole different story especially with a toddler who demands attention at every single hour of the day.
I threw on some of August's sweatpants and one of his shirts and slipped on some socks. Every night I've been sleeping in his clothes, it makes it feel like he's right there next to me. As much as he gets on my nerves sometimes I miss him so much. I can't wait until his tour is over and he's back home with us again. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair a few times before making my way to the living room where the kids, Mama Sheila and my mom were waiting with all the snacks we'd prepared right after dinner. I sat down on the sofa beside Armani who immediately climbed on my lap.
Chay grabbed the remote and turned the TV on. Then she fiddled around on the iPad that was connected to the TV and in a matter of minutes the live stream was on - and we were just in time too.
"And here is the man that really needs no introduction, August Alsina!"
"Look Armani, there's daddy." I said happily and pointed to the TV as August ran out from the side of the stage.
"Daddy!" He clapped. "Hi Daddy!"
"He can't hear you Armani." Loyal replied.
Armani looked at me with a frown. "He no say hi back."
"That's because he can't hear you baby. See, there's lots and lots and lots of people and daddy's got special earphones in to hear the music. We can talk to him later, okay? Then you can say hi and he'll hear you."
He could only screw his face up even more and cross his arms. My poor boy. I kept my arms around him and tuned myself in to watch my man totally work the stage like he'd never left and when he started to perform Hip Hop, I couldn't help but tear up. I know how much that song means to him even still to this day. He's always said that it's like his life anthem.
I watched the crowd vibe to the song and sing along. August will always have me in awe because he never fails to amaze me. He completely detached himself from the music world when we expanded our family and everything with Chandra happened and everyone thought that would be the last of him, but this right here, this is only the very beginning. He's popped back out and once again gotten the world's attention. His shows are all sold out and everyone wants to book him because he still has the stage presence and the ability to maintain hype with the crowd. I know he doubted himself but I knew his comeback would be better than ever because he deserves nothing but the best. He's worked his way up from the bottom and not once has he forgotten where he comes from.
