She was nervous to see him, that was an understatement.

Everyone had been on lockdown for the past seven months, and they weren't that close anymore. Still, she knew the sparks she felt from the audition were something, something good. Maybe the start of something new.

But hey, he promised to wait. He didn't live up to that promise, since he ran off with another girl just a few months before she turned eighteen.

Now, their relationship was history.

She pretended, like nothing ever happened between them. She slapped on a smile and put on a show, for the people. No one would know what she was feeling inside.

He was fine without her. It shows, through his chats with Sabrina. His face would immediately light up, like it did when he was hers. But again, that was a fantasy, as he was never hers.

The blonde girl threw herself at Josh and hugged him tightly as he swung her around.

Liv became slightly bitter. That was their thing, the nicknames were their thing.
No, no, she swore she wasn't. But it was hard not to be bitter with every kiss they shared, every hug they shared, every time they traded jackets or laughed about playing Billy Joel on the piano.

She promised she wouldn't think about it, yet her mind always found a way back to it. She kept thinking about the day she found out he was dating another girl, and how he'd broken her trust—-and her.

Liv rode down to Josh's house on her bike. She couldn't wait to share with him that song she'd written, but she was met by an unpleasant sight.

Josh and Sabrina were kissing and climbing into Josh's car. Liv marched over and knocked on the window.

"Give me one second," she smiled at Sabrina. She pulled Josh to the side.

"What are you doing?"  she whispered.

"I'm driving to the Scoops with Sabrina," he said nonchalantly, as if it were no big deal.

"Uh-huh. What about that kiss?"

"Liv, I swear, we're just friends. We happened to run into each other at a protest and decided to hook up."

"Tell me Josh, stop lying. You've been sleeping with her, you've been dating her behind my back. How long?" 

He fiddled with his jacket. "Two months."

Liv turned away. "I can't believe you."

"You thought I'd wait around for you? I have more things to do with my life than just...wait around on a girl!"

"You promised me," Liv turned around, tears in her eyes. "You said forever, you said you'd wait."

She balled up the sheet of paper she'd written and threw it onto the curb in front of him.

Liv rode away on her bike, tears clouding her vision.

She did try dating around, except they all ended in terrible failures. What was a guy after all, probably problems she didn't need.

Over lockdown, Josh and Liv weren't that close anymore. She's decided to have the courage to walk up to him and ask him what's happening in his life. Of course, it was going better than hers.

"How've you been?" she asked quietly, seating herself on the stool.

"I've been good," he said faintly.

"You and Sabrina?"

"We're great. She's really nice and caring and perfect."

Liv's eyes slightly hardened and her eyes averted to the floor.

He loved the blonde.

However, a brunette was still in his mind.
