Keith stared at himself in the mirror, tears gathering in his eyes. He couldn't possibly take his eyes off his reflection, fists clenching into tight balls. Keith brought his hands up, hugging a small leather-covered booklet close to his chest. His eyes drifted to the silver label on the cover reading 'Altea High School- Class of 2021' in some old-school, fancy lettering. They then drifted up, to the navy blue cap that occupied his head. Keith stared at the cap intently, finally beginning to cry.

"Are you ready yet, love?" Lance's voice called from down the hall. Keith went to respond but before he could Lance was standing in the door frame of the bathroom. His blue eyes grew wide at the sight of Keith crying, rushing to his side. "Hey, hey, what's wrong?"

Keith sniffled, moving to dry his tears. "Nothing, just got a little too far in my head," he responded, setting his diploma on the bathroom counter before taking off his cap.

Lance frowned, feeling as if Keith was lying. "What do you mean, baby? I thought today's been good so far? Did something happen?" he asked, taking Keith's hands in his own.

"N-No, I'm okay... Today has been good," Keith muttered, pushing his face into Lance's chest. He inhaled deeply, shutting his eyes in bliss at the smell of Lance's collagen. Lance wrapped his arms around the smaller boy, kissing the top of his head. "I just... I never thought I'd graduate"

Lance rose an eyebrow at his boyfriend, not understanding what he meant. "Why would you think that?"

Keith pulled away slightly but still hung on to Lance. He looked down at the navy blue gown that clothed his body. The gown completely swallowed his body, making him look way smaller than he already was. The color also made him look paler than normal, but Keith didn't necessarily mind that. The only thing he minded was how surreal it felt to be wearing it. Keith felt like he was stuck in some sort of fever dream as if this wasn't real life.

"Because... I've never been a school kind of kid. And-And after my dad passed I was so unmotivated," Keith explained, turning back to look at himself in the mirror once again. "Until I met you, I was convinced that I'd either kill myself before graduating or drop out."

Lance's mouth fell open, not knowing how to respond. How was he supposed to respond to something like that? Keith giggled at Lance's facial expression, reaching for the zipper on the gown. "Clearly, neither of those things happened... You saved me," he spoke with a smile.

Lance blushed, looking away from Keith's gaze. He moved closer, helping his boyfriend get out of the gown. "I didn't do anything other than love you... Well, and break your heart a few times," Lance chuckled, guiding the gown down Keith's shoulders to reveal his button-up and jeans.

Keith laughed a little, bending down to take the gown in his hands. "You loved me, and showed me how I'm supposed to be treated, showed me my worth. Most importantly, you never gave up on me. Even when I was completely out of line and pushing all your buttons... You supported me when the rest of the world didn't."

Lance wrapped his arms around Keith's waist, pushing his face into the olders nape. "That's just me doing my job as your boyfriend," he mumbled.

Keith giggled at the feeling of Lance's hot face pressed against his neck, knowing Lance was feeling embarrassed. "And you do an amazing job. I'm serious, Lance. I wouldn't be where I am today, as happy as I am if it wasn't for you."

Lance couldn't help how shy he felt hearing Keith praise him over and over. "Where is this all coming from? I-I'm supposed to be the one doing the sweet-talking," Lance whined.

The older couldn't fight back his laughter, only making Lance more embarrassed. "I'm saying this because I don't express how grateful I am for you often... Sure I always tell you how much I love you, but I never say how lucky I am to have a man like you in my life. I honestly couldn't ask for a better boyfriend." Keith turned his head, taking away Lance's hiding spot. The older faced Lance, looking at his flushed face with a smile. Lance chewed on the inside of his lip, diverting his gaze. "You're the best thing to ever happen to me," he continued, kissing Lance's cheek.
