You were hunched over your desk, eyes glued to your PADD. You had a report to finish by the morning and you were nearly done. It had taken you longer than expected for you had to redo some of your procedures and calculations to get more accurate results. You didn't know how long you'd been working on this. But, when the chime to your office rang and you heard Hugh's voice through the door, you realized you must have been in there for quite some time.

"Y/N?" Hugh called. "You still alive in there?"

You smiled slightly. "Yeah, come on in."

The door whooshed open and in stepped Hugh. He looked at you with concern written all over his face. "Y/N," he started to say, but you held up a hand to stop him.

"I know, I know." You sighed. "I missed dinner again, didn't I?"

"Dinner, and now almost bedtime." Hugh shook his head as he approached you. "You've been in here for ages, Y/N. You need to take a break."

"I took a break," you replied.

Hugh raised his eyebrows. "Yeah? When?"

You thought back but couldn't for the life of you figure out how long ago that was. "Sometime... after lunch. But I did have a snack and drink then! That has to count for something."

At the mention of your snack, your stomach growled.

Hugh sighed. "Come on, let's go get you a proper meal and then you need to go to bed."

"I need to—"

"Eat something and go to sleep," Hugh said sternly. "Don't make me pull rank and force you to do this."

You frowned and narrowed your eyes at him. "You wouldn't."

He folded his arms over his chest. "Try me."

With an exasperated sigh, you stood up, your spine popping as you did so. You sighed in relief as you stretched out your tense body. "But this report has to be done by the morning," you said.

"I'm sure it'll be fine if it's a little late. You did have to redo some things, yeah?"

You nodded.

"Well, then, it only makes sense that the report would take longer to do." He put a hand onto your lower back. "You won't be any good to anyone if you don't take care of yourself. You have to keep better track of time and make sure you take breaks."

"I know." Your shoulders slumped, body and mind growing exhausted. "You're right, as always."

Hugh offered you a soft smile. "Come, let's find you some food."

You smiled back, tired but sincere. "Thanks for looking out for me."

He dipped his head in a nod. "Always."
