Tensions were still high between the Alpha Quadrant and the Vorta, and even though Weyoun had distanced himself from The Dominion, you understood why some were still apprehensive of him. You didn't, however, understand the need that some people had to try and harm or kill him. Which is what someone tried to do today. You were at Quark's with Weyoun when a drunken Klingon had started spouting derogatory comments towards him. This led to a verbal fight breaking out between the members of the station who knew Weyoun well and those in the bar who feared him. The verbal fight escalated into a physical fight, and that's when all hell broke lose.

You had seen a weapon being drawn and before you could warn him, it was being aimed at Weyoun. You had moved in front of the weapon and caught the blast in your side. Lucky for you, the assailant had poor aim and the shot only grazed you. It hurt, but there wasn't any major damage.

Weyoun was pacing in front of your biobed, though, acting as if you were dying.

"You're going to wear a hole in the deck plating," you teased.

He frowned and looked at you.

"I'll be fine," you said. "Julian fixed me and I just have to rest for a bit."

"Why did you take that shot for me?" Weyoun asked. "You could have died!"

"But I didn't. That has to count for something," you said, with a grin. "It takes more than a bar fight to kill me."

He sighed and went to your side. "But you could have died. Why did you step in front of that weapon for me, Y/N? They were clearly trying to hurt me, not you."

You smiled softly. "Because I didn't want you to get hurt, obviously. I care about you and I wanted to protect you."

"Forgive me for not seeming grateful," he said bashfully. He dipped his head. "I have never had someone care so much for me. No one cares if a Vorta dies because we can just be replaced by a clone. No one would have bothered protecting me before I came here."

You took his hand. "Well you're lucky you're here, because now you have a whole bunch of people who would take a disruptor blast for you."

Weyoun's lips twitched into a slight smile. "It will take some getting used to."

"I know," you replied. "And that's fine. It's a big adjustment."

"I am glad you weren't hurt seriously." He paused. "And that you did not die. If you had, I'm not sure what I would have done."

"Don't think like that. I'm fine, and I don't plan on dying any time soon."

He nodded and looked down to your hand in his. "Thank you for protecting me, Y/N. You don't know how much it means to me that you were willing to do that."

You smiled and nodded. "Don't mention it."
