You'd be Starfleet, so Kira would automatically be wary of you. While she appreciates Starfleet's help, she doesn't like being told what to do by them and she especially doesn't like it when you question her orders or decisions. You two would butt heads a lot—trying to decide the best course of action or figure out how to solve a problem. Sometimes the differences in your morals and beliefs would cause arguments to arise.

Despite the frequent arguments, you'd respect one another. The two of you would never hate each other, not really. You'd just be at odds a lot of the time so it would be difficult to form a positive relationship with one another. On top of that, Kira is a pretty private person. She doesn't let a lot of people in, so it would take a while for the two of you to get to know one another. There'd be a lot of tension between you two, which you'd both shove aside as being from the arguments and not from attraction.

After being on the station for a while, you and Kira would start to figure out a way to get along while working together. You'd learn what sets the other off and how to avoid big fights. But you'd still disagree on many things, so the tension would still be there.

Quark would probably comment on the obvious tension between the two of you, saying something like, "Just kiss and make up already." To which you and Kira would both laugh at and brush it off. But as time went on and the two of you stopped arguing so much, you'd realize that you were in fact attracted to her and started to wonder if she could ever feel the same way about you.

One day, the two of you were in a heated argument about God knows what when you just stop making remarks and stare at her for a while as she shouts. Eventually, she'd ask why you weren't saying anything to which you'd respond with, "I don't know why, but right now all I can think about is kissing you." She'd huff and say, "Well then why don't you?"

So you'd kiss, the adrenaline from the argument fueling the passion you were each pouring into the kiss. You'd hold each other close, revelling in the feeling of your bodies pressed against each other. And you'd realize that the recent arguments were mostly caused by pent up frustration about not knowing how to approach the subject of your feelings. All of that frustration would melt away as you kissed one another.

After that incident, you and Kira would be having a drink together at Quark's and he'd ask why neither of you was screaming the other's ear off. You'd both laugh and tell him that you took his advice to kiss and make up, which would leave him gaping at the two of you. Not that he was surprised about you two being together, more that he was shocked you'd admit to taking his advice.
