The new doctor.

I quit.

You walk to walk to your room after you had fell asleep on the couch the night before but right before you lay down you get a page. You look at the page. "Oh no." you say you sprint down the stairs and grab your keys. You jump in your car and speed to the hospital.

You run to the PACU. Once you get to Kate's room they start saying time of death. "Time of de-" the nurse starts to say. "No! SHES NOT DEAD." you say. "We already charged her and did a dose of epi." Stephanie tells you. You grab some gloves. You then grab the paddles. "Charge for 250!" you yell. "NOW!" you say. "Clear!" you yell as you shock Kate. "Nothing." a nurse says. "Charge again!" you yell. "Clear." you say. "Still no pulse." a nurse says. "One more time! This time 300!" you yell. "Clear!" you yell while shocking Kate. "We have a pulse!" the nurse yells.

You put the paddles back on the cart. "How did you do that!" Stephanie says. Granny Kate then opens her eyes. "Kate, don't scare us like that anymore." you say while catching your breath. You then walk out of the room into the hallway. "Please, please. Keep a close eye on her." you tell Stephanie. You then walk to your residents lounge and put on scrubs. You grab your shoes from your locker and put them on. You put on your white coat. You walk out the lounge to see a big group of interns. "May I help y'all?" you say while walking. They all follow you.

"Is it like true you woke a lady from the dead?" Jo asks. "Can I be on your service please?" Another intern asks. They all start talking to you at once. You walk all the way to the cafeteria. You see your friends and sit at the table with them. "Why are interns following you?" Meredith asks. "I brought a lady back to life. Now they all want to be on my service." you say. While your talking with Meredith the chief comes over. "Johnson, heard you brought someone back to life. That's good for chief resident." the chief says while tapping your shoulder. You choke on your coffee. "Chief resident?" everyone says at the same time.

"How long have we been in the race for this?" April asks the chief. "Since the merger." the chief says as he walks away. "Chief resident?" you repeat yourself. "The race is on. Good luck losers." Alex says as he gets up. Jackson and April then get up. You then get up. "Let's go interns! I'm going to give y'all a tour of the hospital!" you say. You then walk out while all the interns follow you. You then do a tour for the interns around the whole hospital. "And that's the hospital." you say. "Enjoy your internship!" you say as you walk away. You can hear them talking about you.

"She's so cool!" One intern says. "I definitely want to be on her service." Another intern says. "She's badass." Jo says. "Whatever. She's not even that good." Shane says as he walks away. You then go back and check on Kate. "How you feeling?" you ask. "I'm fine. But I want to do something.." Kate says. You then sit down on the edge of her bed. "What's up?" you ask. "I want to sign a DNR." Granny Kate says. You look at her in an confused way. "A DNR?" you ask. "Yes please." Kate says. "Do you know what that means?" you ask politely. You and Kate then start talking about the DNR.

You go get her the DNR and you watch as she signs it. "Thank you sweetie." Kate says. You then get up and walk out the hallway. Before you leave they call code blue. "What the hell?" you say while walking back. "She's DNR." Nurse Tyler says. You watch as they refuse to help Kate. Flatline. You walk in. "Time of death 20:19." you say. You then run out of the PACU. You go into the residents lounge. You see Alex laying on the bench. You leave your white coat and tennis shoes. You start changing into your regular clothes. "Where you going?" Alex asks. "I quit." you say as you walk out.

Alex gets up and runs after you. "What do you mean you quit?" Alex asks you. "I quit." you say. You then walk the other way to the lobby. You get in your car and drive to Joe's bar. You then sit at the bar. "Are you hiring Joe?" you ask. "Why?" Joe asks while pouring your drink. "I would like to work here." you say while sipping your drink. "What happened y/n?" Joe asks you. "I quit." you say while smiling, clearly already drunk. "What?" Joe says. "Give me another one Joe!" you say happily. "Give me your keys y/n." Joe says. You then pull your keys out and hand them to Joe.

He then pours you another drink and you drink it. You stay at the bar for about an hour. You phone keeps blowing up. You slide your phone across the bar to Joe and put your head down. Joe then grabs your phone and answers the call. "Hello?" Joe says. "Whos this?" Meredith asks. "Joe. Y/n is extremely drunk right now. She was telling me how she quit?" Joe says. "I'm coming to get her." Meredith says. About 30 minutes later Meredith walks in. "Meredith in the house! Whoop whoop!" you yell and then start laughing. "Let's go y/n." Meredith says as she grabs your shoulder. Joe then gives Meredith your keys.

"Bye Joooooeeee!" you say drunkly. You then walk with Meredith to your car. You then get in the backseat and lay down. "Y/n, what the hell?" Meredith says. "Y/n?" Meredith says. Your knocked out in the back seat. Meredith then pulls up to the house. She calls Alex to come pick you up from the car. Alex then goes outside. He picks you up from the backseat. He carries you to your room and lays you on the bed. He covers you up with the blanket.

You wake up the next day to Meredith busting through your door. "Y/n, did you know Cristina quit as well!" Meredith yells at you. You turn toward the wall. "What?" you say while opening one eye. "She quit! What the hell is wrong with you both?" Meredith says. You then fall back asleep. Meredith stomps out.
