"Did you talk to her?"
Jisoo looked up upon hearing the knock on her door. Her head fell back on her bed when she noticed it was just Yuna walking in. "Yep."
"And what did you guys say?"
Jisoo shrugged, her hands pulling together on top of her stomach as she stared up at the plain ceiling with a blank expression.
"Do you think we should be doing this?" she suddenly asked, sighing softly. Her usual blunt attitude was now replaced with one of worry and guilt, emotions she didn't feel too often.
Yuna hummed, "I'm still not sure, honestly." She closed the bedroom door, walking over to sit on the corner of her older friend's bed.
"On one hand, I'm so happy we finally get to see each other and hang out as a big group again. But on the other hand, what good is our friendship if it's practically all built on lies?"
Yuna laid down beside Jisoo, her words hitting hard. "Well... we don't really have a choice though, do we? We were chosen to keep her safe from them. And you know exactly why. We only have to wait a little longer."
"You're right but still. It feels wrong. I don't want to go against our mission assignment but it would lift so much weight off if we could just talk and act freely around her."
"I agree but like you said, it's against our mission protocols. We are only supposed to keep her safe and away from dangerous rivals. It's for the best."
"But you know what the doctors said," Jisoo groaned. "She could start regaining memories at any time. What if they start coming back before we planned?"
Yuna hummed, "true but it hasn't happened yet and he said we have up to a full year. We can't think about the future, Soo. We need to be wary of the present."
Jisoo sighed, suddenly sitting up on her bed as she stared out her window. It was mid-day and she was already more tired than she'd like to admit.
The rays of the sun gleaming inside were already beginning to fall, illuminating the bottom half of her room.
The room was silent as the two girls kept quiet, satisfied with only the presence of one another.
The skies were clear and the animals were silent. Their secluded base was enough to keep the dirt roads vacant.
Neither of them knew if they were doing the right thing. Jisoo made good points that weighed down on the both of them.
A knock on the door pulled them back in, their heads turning at the sound of the irregular pattern. Jisoo yelled come in, the doors pushing open to reveal a taller, younger companion.
"What do you want, Jisung?"
The tall awkward boy cleared his throat, clearly still not completely used to being around the two older girls.
"We were planning on celebrating Jaemin's birthday tomorrow by going out to eat. Do you all want to join us?"
Yuna looked at the boy with a tilted head, "how's that supposed to work? Our identities and Jaemin's are supposed to be kept secret from the public."
Jisung shrugged, "I think Taeyong is renting out a restaurant from his friend Taeil. Doesn't really matter though since people usually leave when they see us."
Jisoo nodded, momentarily forgetting that most of the group didn't have to keep their identities secret. For the members like Jisung, they could do anything and everyone would keep out of their way.
Oh, she wished she and the other girls had such a nice privilege.
"As long as someone can find us an excuse for mission #18A3C21 and no ones around when we're there, we'll come."
Jisung smiled happily knowing they could be together as a large group for the first time in a while. "I'll get Renjun or Jaemin to find an excuse, don't worry about it."
"Oh, Jisung," Jisoo suddenly stood up quickly. "Tell Renjun to get the spray cans out of my car, my trunk smells like chemicals."
"Hey, doesn't Eunjin work tomorrow?" Yuna suddenly remembered, her finger habitually pointed out as she stared at the ground, thinking.
Jisoo nodded, "I think so. I think she got a second job at a cafe by their house for when she isn't working at the other place."
"Then that should be a good enough excuse right? If she works then we can't be together. Leaves enough time for us to celebrate with the others before she gets off."
Jisung clapped his hands, the two echoing louder than he had intended. "Perfect."
