There was a chilling wind passing through the night air, gently brushing past everything in its way.
It was already midnight, multiple shops closed, the yellow street lamps illuminating the sidewalks and roads, people fast asleep in their beds.
In one house laid Eunjin, her face showing no emotion as she looked upward towards her dark ceiling just barely visible.
The room was quiet for the first time in what felt like a while. Not a comfortable silence either. It was more eery as if this invisible weight was spread over the room.
Every time she tried to do something, she was just brought back to the corner store she and Jeno were at when people attacked.
One second, the two are trying to pick what to write with. The next, she's shooting someone in cold blood.
The worst part was that no matter how hard she tried to feel bad, it's like her brain just switched off. She just couldn't feel bad for that man or those men who died while attacking them.
It made her worried and scared. She shot someone. She killed someone. Yet, she didn't even regret it. If she had to do it again, she knew she would.
Every so often it was like words echoed in the back of her head. She knew she had said it though, as it was her own voice she was hearing. But she could never recall saying something like it.
"I only feel bad for innocent people," she scoffed. "Every time someone purposely comes at me in an attempt to kill me and I kill them instead, I don't feel bad. They decided to stick around. They decided to put themselves in that spot and they must face the consequences. It's the easy way out. In reality, they deserve to suffer the pain they put everyone through. But in those moments, it's never you're going to reap what you sew, it's either I'm about to die or you are."
How could she not care about taking someone's life? It was a monstrous idea.
"I can't do this," she quipped, standing up. Her legs were killing her but she didn't care to grab her crutches. She didn't even attempt to grab her phone, only picking up her keys as she left.
She was quiet going down the stairs, the sight of Jihan's bedroom door slightly ajar leaving the girl exposed as she slept peacefully.
"Would she be mad?" Eunjin pondered to herself, staring at Jihan's car keys that sat on the counter in their usual spot.
She could drive pretty well now. Or at least, she assumed she could. Since Chaeyoung had gotten back she had made sure to inform Eunjin about everything within a car. All she really needed was to get in the driver's seat.
She shook her head, letting the thought of stealing her best friend's car slip from her mind, "that's too reckless, and stealing is wrong," she told herself.
She ignored any pain that made its way through each of her limbs. She was determined to get some fresh air somewhere away from the house she felt so trapped inside.
As she walked along the dark roads and orange lamp posts, an idea popped into her head. She did have somewhere to go where she knew she would always be welcome no matter what circumstances.
She made her way to the park, her eyes only slightly lighting up as she noticed the newly hung fairy lights that decorated some of the lamp posts.
It looks so beautiful, she smiled to herself, taking in all the colors.
Her eyes caught sight of four people nearby, matching lights in their hands with huge smiles on their lips. They looked so happy, enough to make Eunjin wish she too could join them.
Her feet sped towards a certain corner a little bit away from the park. It was a small passageway between two big buildings that she wanted to get to.
Her eyes lit up seeing the three familiar beauties she loved visiting often.
They jumped at the sight of the young adult's smile, their purrs eliciting happiness as they rubbed themselves against her legs.
Eunjin giggled softly, carefully walking towards their makeshift box home set up by another stranger.
"Hello, Seol," she whispered, welcoming the calico cat in her lap. "How are you?" she asked the animal, petting it gently.
Bongsik and Nal laid in front of the two, their paws folding under their bodies as they welcomed the pets from their unofficial owner.
"I'm sorry I didn't bring any food or water today, it was kind of a last-minute decision," she explained to the three. None of them really cared, their eyes still closed as they snuggled in close to the girl.
"Today's been one hell of a day," she laughed lighting, rubbing Seol's belly. "It was a bit scary as well. Sometimes I wish I could just stay in bed and never leave but honestly, I think home is the last place I want to be at, right now."
She took the purring from the cats as a sign to continue talking, her smile still sitting tiredly on her rosy lips.
"I don't even know how to describe it to you three. It feels like I'm not only trapped within the walls of the house but recently it's felt like I've been trapped in my own head as well. Do you all know what that's like? Well... I'd assume not, I guess. Just know, it's really not fun."
Bongsik and Seol were still purring softly as she spoke to them, Nal on the other hand had decided that her company was a sign that he could rest without worry for a bit and got back into his side of their shared bed to lay down.
"Do you guys ever share your complaints with me when I'm assuming that you're just being loud?" she asked, tilting her head at the two cats.
She was surprised to see Bongsik sit up with her eyes once again wide.
She was about to say something when the cat walked past her. Looking back, she had noticed someone was approaching.
