"What the hell do you mean someone broke in? I thought you guys were staying inside today to watch movies?"
Jihan nodded, swallowing saliva down her sore throat, "we were. Someone broke into Jisoo and Yuna's house."
"What in the world is going on," Eunjin said quietly, shaking her head as she watched the world speed by outside her window.
Jihan didn't hear her too well, the only thing she was focused on at the moment was getting to the other girls' house unharmed.
"Oh my god, what happened here?" Eunjin gawked, approaching Yuna.
The younger girl shook her head, "we've honestly got no idea. The officers are still inside investigating some stuff. They said they'd be back as soon as possible."
Jihan and Eunjin nodded, waiting patiently alongside the other three girls for the police to come back outside.
"Are you two the homeowners?" Eunjin shook her head, scooting over to let Jisoo stand between her and Yuna.
"Yes well," the police officer drew in a deep breath, his chest pumped slightly outward as he squinted against the sun's painfully bright rays. "There's some good news but some bad news as well."
"Good news, they didn't destroy or take any typical valuable things. Most things look like they are still in place. Bad news, it looks like they were looking for something and got it. There are a few crevices we wouldn't have thought to look through if they hadn't left everything messed up before leaving. You are welcome to come inside and evaluate anything to let us know if we missed anything."
The girls, excluding Eunjin, now had extremely worried faces. The police officer didn't seem to take notice of this, only turning around while the five followed closely behind them.
Eunjin took notice of how Jisoo had begun biting on her thumb nail as soon as they had walked inside- it was an action she did rarely that was only done when she was extremely nervous about something.
The five were silent until they reached upstairs. The first room they entered was Yuna's. Being upstairs must have done something to the four girls beside Eunjin as each of them straightened their posture and were radiating nervous behavior.
What's with them?
There wasn't much when she looked around the room but when they reached the younger girl's closet, Eunjin felt someone hit her.
She slightly fell sideways as she looked down. "Are you okay?" She asked Chaeyoung, noticing how she was now holding her head with her eyes slightly closed.
She nodded slowly, still holding the corner of her head, "yeah, yeah. Just a bit dizzy, is all. I should probably eat something soon."
Eunjin nodded, holding onto the girl's arm tightly just in case she fell again. When she looked back towards the three others and the officer, she noticed there was a change.
The officer now looked a bit... scared? She wasn't sure if she could really place what emotion he was feeling but the girls definitely looked like they were on guard because of something.
What exactly they were on guard for? She had absolutely no idea.
That's what I get for looking away for merely a few seconds, Eunjin thought to herself.
She didn't think too much afterward, still holding onto Chaeyoung tightly as they exited the room. Before she could walk with the others into Jisoo's room, Chaeyoung stopped her.
"Jin, can you come with me downstairs to ask if I can get something to eat. I don't know if they'd actually let me since it's a crime scene but I feel like I'm gonna be sick if I don't eat something soon."
Eunjin nodded, tapping Jihan's shoulder to tell her where they would be going. Jihan understood, telling them that she'd take them to go get something to eat if they didn't allow Chaeyoung to get anything.
She watched them walk away from the bedroom, silently thanking Chaeyoung for her quick thinking and acting.
While those two were downstairs, they were oblivious to what was happening inside Jisoo's room.
"Tell anyone and you'll be dead by sundown."
The officer's eyes flicked back and forth between each of the girls, his lips sealed tightly in a straight line as he nodded fearfully.
Their threat was a lie and each of the girls knew it but the officer sure didn't and he wasn't going to risk his life so he went along with it.
"Want a banana?"
"Too mushy. Do they have apples or anything?" Chaeyoung wondered aloud, looking around the nearly bare kitchen. "I can see why they spend so much time at your house."
"Yeah, I think I've only been here like three times, honestly. But I'm glad they come to our house, it gives me an excuse to stay in the comfort of my own room."
Chaeyoung nodded, taking a bite of her apple. "Ah, understandable. Your bed looked super comfy last time I saw it."
"It is," Eunjin agreed. "It's my own little safe place. I would sleep in it all day if I could. Whoever designed it should win a prize or something."
Chaeyoung laughed softly, nodding. The two only spent a moment in silence before the officer and three other girls came back downstairs.
"Is everything okay?" Eunjin asked, approaching Jihan again.
The older girl shook her head, "we aren't completely sure but from the looks of it, they've only taken extremely valuable things."
