[ 3 Years After Prologue ]

"It's all over."

The newly awakened girl sat up against her bed, her eyes languidly looking around the room as she spoke over the phone in a monotonous voice. "I'm kinda of worried, to be frank."

Jihan sighed from one of the other ends of the phone call, "It's school, Jin. It's understandable for anyone to be upset over it. You just got out of a two and a half year-long coma a few months ago, I'd be pissed knowing I had to go back."

"Oh and we'll be there to help you too!" Yuna added, her voice cheerful over the phone.

"If anyone tries pulling a quick one, I'll take care of it," Jisoo said, the sound of her chewing gum amplified as she spoke to the others.

"I wish I could be there with you guys. Be careful tomorrow, college kids are asses in the morning, especially with all those gang-affiliated students," Chaeyoung added, the sound of her footsteps echoing and getting drowned out by other people around her.

"What time is it in America?" Eunjin asked out of curiosity, swirling her pen between her fingers as she waited for a response.

Chaeyoung hummed, taking a minute to answer. The three other girls on her end of the phone could hear the echoing of the voices become quieter for a moment before picking up once again. "It's about ten in the morning over here."

"Wait, I thought you said you were over in Cali for your freshman year?" Eunjin waited for Chaeyoung's him before continuing. "I'm pretty sure is ten in the morning, central time, though? West coast is two hours behind central."

"Well, I guess your academic side stayed intact. But yeah, I couldn't find a clock. Too tired to realize, I guess. Anyways, shouldn't you guys be getting to bed, it's already eleven over there."

Jihan included herself into the conversation in a quick yet subtle voice, making Eunjin a bit confused until she pushed away at the thought. "We should, thanks, Chae. Talk to you later!"

Eunjin listened to her phone as Chaeyoung said goodbye one last time before hanging up. Jihan, Yuna, and Jisoo were quick to do so afterwards.

She was the last to say goodbye, only a few seconds passing before she was the last on the line. And with that, she ended the call.

Sliding into the white bedsheets, her body began to grow warmer, letting the heavy blanket create a layer of comfort. A sigh left her lips as she listened to the soft melodies playing from her phone.

It had been three years. Three years since she was last well-alive and before she needed to be fed through a tube. Three years after she got into the accident that had since changed her life.

For the better or the worse? She couldn't tell.

Of course, because through that incident she had managed to lose a majority of close memories. She couldn't even recognize the faces of her parents or four best friends when she woke up.

And instead of spending the summer trying to relive those memories, she spent them learning and get familiar with school work because she was now an adult, an adult that would soon need a job that would provide her with stability.

For now, she only had a measly cafe job that barely paid her phone bills but she couldn't really ask for more.

She was lucky Jihan was letting her live in her apartment. She felt more than awful when she saw the girls staring back at her with worried faces at the hospital but couldn't tell who they were.

Maybe I'll be able to remember more if I'm around familiar people, she thought.

She didn't know who she was trying to convince more, herself or the people around her doubting her recovery. Probably herself.

But she wouldn't let that stop her. She was going to prove herself to everyone around her that she can and will recover. She will not be a "lost cause" for everyone to pity.

Or, she at least hoped not.
