"I've got you, come here."

Eunjin hesitated before taking the boy's hand, another one standing behind him with his gun ready to shoot.

"How are you two going to ignore my messages and then just show up together randomly with your guns and bandanas," Jisung mumbled, following behind Jeno while Mark kept an eye out from behind him.

Donghyuck huffed under his colorful makeshift mask, pulling out his gun as he sent a shot past Eunjin's right side. She hadn't expected the sound and her heart was starting to slow before it echoed from beside her.

"We need to get out of here," Donghyuck said, a bit louder than his normal tone, pulling Eunjin with him past large rubble and debris spots.

Mark and Renjun made it out after everyone else, Mark coughing violently along with Jeno, Eunjin, and Jisung while Renjun and Donghyuck just lowered their bandanas.

There was an awkward bubble formed around them and Eunjin was almost one hundred percent certain it was because of her presence from the way each of them kept glancing from her to Jeno.

"Well, we'll get going, thanks for the help," he shrugged, gently pulling Eunjin from her jacket. The two approached his bike, Jeno once again handing his helmet to Eunjin.

He left with a singular wave, leaving each of his members stunned and quite a bit confused.

None of them were really comprehending what had just happened. Mark and Jisung arrived after the shooting had already began in order to help out their member but Jeno never specified what actually happened.

Renjun and Donghyuck just got messages from Jisung saying there was an emergency and they needed to bring their guns right away.

"You think the girls are gonna be told about this?" Renjun asked, pulling his bandana off of his neck. Mark shook his head.

"Highly doubtful," he answered. "I don't think Jeno would be alive if they did find out. Have you seen how protective they are over that girl?"

"Well, that's probably because she's not just a girl," Donghyuck shrugged. "She's important to them because she is their mission."

"Do you think it's all just acting still?" Jisung asked, following the others to their bikes. "At first they said they were acting but now it seems a bit different."

"Well they are good actors but it's already been a few months since they were assigned to her," Mark pointed out. "They could consider her as a regular friend now. Just one that they're really protective over."

Jisungs lips pulled into a tight line as he nodded, "but what do you think Eunjin will say when she figures out that they weren't actually her friends before? And that her parents from the hospital weren't actually her parents."

Renjun shrugged, getting onto his bike, "well we'll just have to wait and see. And it's an if she finds out. For all she knows those girls have been by her side since childhood and her 'parents' were good smartens who passed away together in a car crash after she woke up."

"Why are you so interested all of a sudden?" Donghyuck asked, pulling on his helmet.

Jisung shrugged, "she looked like a natural today when she was getting shot at. I thought she'd at least be scared or something like a regular person but it wasn't anything like that."

The three other boys nodded. "Normally I'd say take it up with Taeyong or even Jihan in this case but seeing as we aren't actually supposed to be around Eunjin in any way, I don't think that would be possible. We'll just have to wait and see what's happening."

"Do you guys think Jeno will get in trouble for being around Eunjin? He's the one that's supposed to stay farthest away from her but they're literally project partners. Each time he's talked to me about his partner, he's been talking about her," Renjun inquired.

Mark nodded, "probably. Every time he said something about that dumb project I thought it was just some random person."

The ride back to the park was longer than it was to the store. Jeno decided it would be best for them to stay off the main street and instead go through some dirt paths. It didn't take long to get back to their spot.

He pulled back into the parking space slowly. He took notice of the old and slightly rusted red Chevrolet to their right. He came to the park often and almost always saw the car parked in the specific space. He didn't know who owned it or if they had just abandoned it in the spot.

No longer finding any interest in the car, he pushed his bike's kickstand down with ease, helping Eunjin safely dismount from the bike and remove her helmet. She ran a hand through her hair after handing the helmet back over, ruffling it up a bit to return some of the volume.

"I need a haircut," she mutter to herself, noticing how some of her ends were breaking off easier than before.

There was a tense silence between the two as they walked back over to the grass patch they were once seated in before chaos hit.

"Your crutches are still here, looks like they only really found interest in my jacket," Jeno laughed half-heartedly, once again letting his knees drop to the ground.

Eunjin followed his movement, taking a seat directly beside him.

welp
